I've had three phishing e-mails from Wells Fargo Bank in the past few days. I've never even had an account there! Also recently got one from Apple telling me my account was going to be completely locked (or some such nonsense) if I didn't verify my information.

Please read Lynnj's thread in "Electronics Talk" about dangerous texts and phone calls (it might also show up for you as an email message) from a group pretending to represent Verizon. They're very convincing and extremely dangerous. Rather than try to repeat the details, I'll post the link to the other thread:

Verizon Wireless Phishing Scam (Text)

You're welcome, kdgn!

I worry about those who aren't aware. The phone calls and texts are very convincing, and the fake websites they've been creating look exactly like the authentic Verizon site.

I have gotten a couple e-mails from them, but do not open those kinds of e-mails.....report them as junk......

Never a day goes by that I don't get at least 10 different e-mails that I do that to. Also yesterday I got a call from Michigan several times......finally I picked up the phone, and didn't say anything......finally someone said "good bye"........then hung up. Normally I don't pick up calls that I don't know the who the party is.......

Thanks for the info....I never open emails from people I don't know, and I immediately delete all the junk ones and never open them up either. Phone calls.....either my answering machine gets it (and they hang up), or if I answer and it's something fishy, I hang up and don't say a word.

Got scam messages on iPad from sites that replicate the real sites logo: one a day from" Bank of America"; weekly from Wells Fargo where I do have an account (reported it); and, from Verizon who when it was reported said there's nothing they can do about it!!!! Wells Fargo said they send a letter to you, not email and noted that the wording was not their phrasing. Before you open these emails you should call the number on your statement to verify for security's sake.
