I think most of you know that I was not able to drive or ride the 4 hours to visit with my girls and their families over the holidays - my son would be there too. This knee has really inhibited everything I do, thus I couldn't go. Since the surgery, it's going to be a long recuperation.
Well, I talked to each of my kids Christmas morning and then at 1 PM my phone rang - it was my son and he had his Droid on speaker phone. They were all clustered around and were going to open their gifts while I was on the phone - I could hear everything as they opened them and got to talk to each one of them - including my 5 year old granddaughter and my 2 sils.
Also, my daughter had sent me a big box that said "do not open til Christmas." I opened it and could hardly believe it ..... it was a 12 inch circular wreath/centerpiece made entirely of seaglass - blue, green, and yellow ..... it is absolutely beautiful. It's very heavy, so I'm going to put it on my dining room table with either a small vase of flowers in the middle or a hurricane lamp top with a candle.
Even though I wasn't there, I feel like I was. I feel so very blessed by their thoughtfulness. It's interesting how sometimes when they're small you have days you wonder "why in the world did I ever have these kids? They're driving me nuts." It's hard work guiding them to adulthood in a consistent way. But then all of a sudden there they are - adults - and you realize that all that hard work has borne some beautiful fruit.

abby

<*)))><</p>
