Flight Crash Was 'Suicide Mission': Source MEANWHILE, AUSTRALIA PUTS SEARCH FOR PLANE ON HOLD

The Malaysia Airlines flight that went down in the Indian Ocean looks a lot like a suicide mission, an official source tells the Telegraph. A team probing the crash believes no fire or malfunction could have sent the plane on its errant course or crippled its communications system for 7 hours. "This has been a deliberate act by someone on board" who had "detailed knowledge" of the plane, said the source, but "nothing is emerging that points to a motive." In other developments:

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has delayed its search due to bad weather, Australia's News Network reports. A 13-foot swell and gale force winds of 50 miles an hour are hitting the region.
The UK satellite firm Inmarsat figured out in a day that the flight likely crashed where crews are now searching, but rescue teams didn't know for 10 days—and relatives of passengers are outraged. They called Malaysia Airlines and the Malaysian government "the real executioners."
Inmarsat determined the flight's path in a unique way, receiving hourly signals by satellite and studying waves coming from the plane to determine whether it was getting closer or moving away, CNN reports. It's like the Doppler effect—the difference in sound between a vehicle approaching and driving off.
Malaysia Airlines said for the first time yesterday that Fariq Abdul Hamid, a pilot on the flight, had never flown a Boeing 777 before without a check pilot monitoring him.

I don't believe it was the pilot on a suicide mission. I think it was a major malfunction of the systems and they had a very short time (seconds) to try to address it and unfortunately ended up incapacitated. They managed to turn the plane around to go back to the originating airport, but couldn't finish before they were unconscious. I think the plane was then on autopilot until it ran out of fuel.

They have thoroughly checked out the pilot and co-pilot for mental problems and none were found.

I agree with Deb here. We have heard so many theories its unreal. The one above makes the most sense even though we may never know for sure. But I don't believe it was a suicide mission.

So sad...........but something went really wrong and had it caught fire it would not have been so far away..........per the experts. Then the poor people with the mudslides.......horrible........we are blessed........regardless we are blessed.

Some pilots on the cable news channels said the other day that in case of fire in the cockpit that the directions given to pilots would be to do exactly what this plane did. They were to turn rapidly and get out of the airspace of other planes. They talked about how this should be followed directly from any manual of any pilot when under these circumstances. They said then if the pilots were incapacitated that the plane would fly until out of gas or the instruments were destroyed by fire. The only thing that is strange is there should have been time to make a mayday call.

I don't agree with this latest info about a suicide mission either. Malaysia has not been forthcoming with much information on this incident so I would tend to not to believe their reports.

There is still the factor of the 2 guys who got on with hte stolen passports -terrorists are well known for doing suicide missions.

It's still all speculation. It will probably remain a mystery unless hard evidence is found. So far, I haven't seen any evidence.

EVERY pilot in the WHOLE WORLD has to make his first flight without a check pilot monitoring him at some point, so to throw this statement into the mix is purely to confuse and divert attention. He was the "Co-pilot" and was flying with a seasoned veteran.

Other than this statement, there is nothing new in this news. And unless the "source" is named, it is just gossip.

I don't see anything "sinister" about the pilot saying that.

As he left one radar that was tracking him, he was just simply being nice and polite by saying, "Alright, good-night".
