New York Jets

Just read that the New York Jets have gotten rid of their quarterback, Mark Sanchez.

I don't claim to know much about this team, only that that Mark Sanchez had a lot of struggles.

What caught my attention was that they got Michael Vick. I have got a huge problem with that guy.

I've seen games where the fans really cheer him on. I am astounded by it. I know he served his time for his offenses.

Personally, I find animal cruelty to be among the lowest form of scum ever. I don't believe ANYONE doesn't know what animal cruelty is, so I don't buy his stories.

I would have a real problem being a fan of a team that employed him.

Chicago Bears with the 11th most players arrested since 2000

Over on Reddit, they have an impressive and colorful graph showing how many NFL players from each team were arrested since 2000. Would you believe theBengals aren't in 1st place... all by themselves? The 40 players arrested by Cincinnati is actually tied with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Chicago Bears just miss out on the top ten, coming in 11th. The remaining top ten following the Bengals and Vikes are the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and the San Diego Chargers.

Even though the Detroit Lions have had a number of recent brushes with the Law, they actually trail the Bears in arrests since 2000, 23-17. The Lions are down at 18th, tied with 5 other teams, in arrests. Well, I suppose those Bears fans that insist on talking smack can direct their vitriol towards Minnesota fans now. Either that or just give it a rest entirely...

You know, you hardly ever hear about hockey players being arrested.. what is it with NFL and NBA players?

Maybe because hockey is so darn aggressive ( like football isn't?!) maybe they get out their aggressions on the ice..

Or maybe we just don't hear about it...

I realize Michael Vick has served his time therefore seemingly paying his debt to society and I do believe in second chances but not in cases like this. I could never forgive him. I have seen the testimony on how he killed those dogs and it was beyond brutal. IMO anyone who treats animals like can never truly change. You have to be evil to do that.

I believe in second chances too, but I have a feeling in this case, "a leopard doesn't change his spots". I have no sympathy for this POS.

He'll be arrested again for the same thing. JMHO

I didn't pretend not to see this. It really has nothing to do it. What most of these players are arrested for is nothing compared to what Michael Vick did. He is a disgusting scumbag who is obviously very evil. Who else could hold a dog by their front paws and back paws over their head and beat them on the ground until they are dead? That is some of the stuff I can actually write here, the rest is worse. If you can root for someone like that more power to you but people with empathy for defenseless animals will never forgive him.

I first learned about MV HERE on Viewpoints a few years back.

The stories released in the press were horrific and when he was arrested, I was happy!!

I remember the hullabaloo over him joining the Eagles...WOW is all I can say abot some of the posts! He was arrested, tried and convicted for his crimes and regrets the things he had done.

He must (still) be a valuable commodity for teams to be still interested in him. He has paid for his crimes..

I look at Darren Sharper and Aaron Hernandez accused of far worse crimes, no remorse and I see the worst of the worst..

I don't disagree with you at all in anything you wrote. I agree he has served his time but we are free to choose how we feel about him individually and there are many people who feel the same. The one thing that makes me happy about those two is that they will likely get the jail times they deserved. I don't think MV did.

I see no remorse from the ones you mentioned either and find them disgusting too but unfortunately in this country killing animals requires a lot less jail time then killing a person if any jail time at all. I hold people who kill defenseless children, elderly and animals in a place that is a different kind of evil. I don't think that could be rehabilitated. That is only my opinion. When I think about what MV did to all those animals I get a lump in my throat and my face gets red. It affects me on a physical level.

I am well aware of the others in the NFL that have been involved in criminal activity. Doesn't matter which team. I would probably not hire them, but I don't get to make that type of decision. Every team probably has some.

That's a whole other discussion.

I find what this person did to be egregious beyond my ability to put back in the public eye with a city's logo and name on his back. I believe in heavenly forgiveness. But, you don't let a pedophile work in an elementary school.

This guy has had an opportunity few people get. Making millions of dollars, etc., and then abuses animals. Sorry, I would not ever support his playing.

I hold no grudge that MV should not earn a living in any place that would be willing to pay his salary. That is completely up to the person who pays it. I don't live in NY and if I were a season ticket holder of the Jets, I would definitely cancel them.

As far as tar and feathering him, I didn't start this thread but I can certainly express what ever disgust I wish to without the permission of anyone here. Anyone that did what he did deserves it. You cannot kill animals like that without having a complete lack of empathy for life.He didn't do it once or twice, he did it over and over. People like that do not deserve to walk among us IMO. I have seen serial killers who weren't as perverse as he.

An abuser will always be an abuser. He/she may redirect the point of their abuse, but it will still be there. I believe in second chances, even thirds, but why pay them outrageous amounts of money while they are still in the process of rehab? Let them go to work at "normal" wage while working their way back up. Let them work with/in their areas of abuse in order to understand just what they were doing and the outcome of their actions. We continue to put them on some sort of pedestal because they are gifted? There are plenty of others out there that are just as gifted. Sorry for the rant, but that's my take on a lot of these "stars".

Michael Vick is a football player and they ALL make substantially more than the minimum wage. You may not like his salary amount but that's the industry he works for.

The 'funny thing' is, I don't like Michael Vick...but if he's paid for his crimes, served his time and is deeply sorry for what he did, let him play.

I will most definitely say exactly what I want. I never said your opinion wasn't valid. The fact that you defend this evil monster and think people should give him a break after he spent less than 2 yrs in jail speaks volumes... to me about you.
