Hallmark Stores

I went to our local hallmark store today to pick up a gift that was on one of my friends wish list for her 40th birthday. I went ahead and picked out a card, some gift wrap, bows. The gift was a little expensive but it's for a good friend so I didn't mind. But when I added up the cost of the card and gift wrap oh my gosh the prices were insane. I just kept saying to myself it's all for a good friend lol. Usually I get cards and gift wrap at other places so much cheaper. I just can't believe how expensive Hallmark has gotten. Does anyone shop their local hallmark store.

Abby, no...I don't shop there. It is a little expensive, but I think your friend will love what you got her.

All of our Hallmark shops closed . We have several Papyrus stores and they are much more expensive.

I go for sales & you can get a customer Crown Rewards card for savings & also get emails for special offers.I like their quality but yes their prices are high

I love them because they are one of the few that still carry Springbok jigsaw puzzles...also not cheap.... Yankee candles too

I used to love Hallmark. They are mostly all closed here. I suspect they will be no longer in existence as a standalone store in not too many years.

Our local store closed last week. One day they were there, and the next day they were gone. I understand that they were not given any warning. I agree that they sold nice things, and I'm sure your friend will enjoy her gift.

I like Hallmark and fortunately we have three stores close enough to us and one in the mall that I go to.

Ours closed down, I do agree it was expensive, but it was worth it to not have to hunt for an envelope to go with the card like I have to at Wal-Mart.

last fall i looked at a clock for my sewing room - a metal and porcelain retro clock but it was way over $50 so i did not get it. afriend bought it for me for Christmas and I felt bad because I knew she had spent way too much on it, but she had stayed with us for a couple months and it was a combo Christmas and thank you gift. I agree that the stuff there has gotten much too pricey. however, i did buy some cute beach sandals there.

I don't go in to Hallmark.......the one here just does not have anything interesting......they used to but not now and the cards are so expensive. I don't know how they make it in the mall.

I used to love going into Hallmark until the last 10 years........

Which probably helps to explain why there aren't near as many of them as there used to be!

Hallmark cards are terrible!!! I hate the sentiments they have chosen on 99% of their cards!!!! The people Hallmark employs to write cards has really taken a dive for the worse!!! They used to be much better written. No more

Papyrus has lovely cards and wrapping paper but it is also very expensive! Who wants to pay at least $5 for a card? And I hate that they put their cards in cellophane. As if these are Monets, Renoir, etc. Cards are read quickly & tossed.

Buying online is not going to be cheaper. You have S&H. Hard to buy cards today.

Hallmark has a line of cards that I really enjoy- the Sunrise collection. Some of the larger stores have them in their own section. And the Barnes and Noble by our house carries the Hallmark Sunrise cards. I love them.

I love Hallmark. Many of their cards are exquisite. I don't mind spending more for people I really treasure.
