Venting - 3/19/2014

Wasn't going to start a thread today, but golly this really bugs me.

Someone will start a thread and ask "has anyone had this happen?" Why do some posters feel the need to respond even though they have not had this happen to them? You can tell what the question is by the question mark at the end of the sentence. The OP didn't ask for general comments, he or she asked for posters to respond if this had happened to them.

Anything bugging you today?

Yes. I have been having some real pain during my time of the month so I went for an ultrasound today and I found out I have fibroid tumors. Haven't talked to the doctor yet but just saw the results in an email sent to me. I don't know what happens next so I am a little anxious so I thought I would vent.

I don't think it is really serious but I have had enough surgeries and I don't know anything about this, that is why it is driving me crazy. I wish they would not have sent me an email until my doctor can explain it. I will be a little anxious until I hear from her.

Just to reassure you fibroids are never cancerous and there are a number of options that can fix this problem. I agree this is not the kind of news you want in an email.

Irshgrl ~ That is definitely not a good way to get a diagnosis...and then to have to wait to talk to your doc. Good luck with everything.

Hope your doc gets back to you soon to ease your worry, if that's possible. And hope there is a simple solution to clear this up.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think it was anything super serious but I would have preferred to get the news from my doctor so she could have answered my questions right away instead of having to wait until tomorrow.

I am venting because I hate to pack. Leaving tomorrow and sharing the suitcase with DH who is a suitcase hog. Never know what clothes and shoes to take. Yuck! I get so stressed out over this that it is stupid. Sometimes I think I should just stay home...and then have to get up at 6AM to leave. It's now 1AM and I am not sleepy, guess I'll be a grouch.

I am sad today. Just learned of the accidental death of someone I know well. My nephew's grandfather cleaning gutters fell off a ladder and died from the fall. I know the entire family very well and my heart is breaking for his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was a good, down to earth man. Life is not fair and I feel awful that I will not be home for his memorial.

Lots of things bugging me today but complaining about them will most likely not change anything, at least not complaining about them here.

As for the complaint Du Jour, I have often wondered why some posters feel the need to comment on a thread that doesn't pertain to them. Like a vegetarian comments on a meat recipe thread where the OP asked for recipe ideas and the veggie says they don't eat meat... not sure how that is helpful to the OP, just the poster needing to express their views I guess. I also don't understand when a poster starts a thread clearly wanting views or thoughts, and someone will only comment with "yes" or "no". It's not a vote, if a person is asking for thoughts either share them or don't bother to comment.

Sometimes I will notice a post with no responses, so I will respond in some way to bump the thread back up to the top...shrug. No complaints from me today.

Allegheny, My condolences to you for the loss of your nephew's grandfather. Irshgrl, I'm sorry -- it's unnerving to receive such a notice in any case, but via email wouldn't be my choice. Your physician's office might need a gentle nudge away from that sort of notification system. I hope you'll let us know how you're doing.

Why people answer "has anyone had this happen?" An appropriate response to that specific question could be "yes" or "no," so it seems to me it would be acceptable for anyone to respond.

I have no complaints to add. Hope all you special ladies (you're all special) on the thread have a peaceful night and a good day tomorrow (with an abundance of blessings and a dearth of problems).

Thank you so much. I guess I was not clear. I didn't hear via email. My brother called me. He was crying as Dave was his Ex-Father in Law and they were still very close.
