men/short pants

It's a cold, windy day here and again I saw a man (not a teenager) wearing short pants. He had on a winter jacket, etc. We are having weather changes, yesterday was beautiful but today it's 20 degrees colder. Is this a macho thing, style or what. I'm a baby boomer and not all that cutting edge!

Our teenage boys always wear shorts, it drives me nuts. We live in Michigan and this morning it was 5 degrees! I pick my battles.. Ha!

I have a neighbor who wears shorts all the time. (I'm in New England.) He's out shoveling and snow blowing in his athletic shorts.

many years ago I lived in Michigan and worked for a large Dept Store....the Manager NEVER wore a winter jacket....only a light weight sweater.....and he had to park way at the back of the parking lot just like the rest of us....brrrrr....

living here in Jersey.....I use to see guys....different ages....coming into the store, I worked at, in shorts...no jackets....just plain NUTS....

Maybe they have trouble finding pants that fit or are comfortable? Maybe they just believe in always dressing for comfort.

You are definitely a baby boomer if you call them short pants. Shorts or cut offs is more the term now. I sure agree with the guys going out in shorts when it's 5 degrees. Must be a macho thing. I live in Idaho and see the kids go out like that all the time, my kids did the same.

my hubs wears shorts year round........not because of trying to look macho, it's because he is hot......he's happy with the thermostat set at 65 degrees year long..............................raven

When I read short pants I thought of the calf length type pants skaters wear.

I have seen people wearing shorts and flip flops when it's still pretty cold outside. I don't get it. But I also don't get Uggs in summer either.

Baby boomer I sure am! I try to keep up with things but when I see the names on the tabloids I'm not sure of I do feel kind of "old". I do know cut-offs but they were shortened jeans back in the 60's, 70's!

Route 7, you are a cutie. I know what you mean, in my realm they had lots of cutoffs, me included. LOL I used to buy all the tabloids in the eighties and nineties, now I don't know any of them anymore, maybe the kids of the stars I knew. LOl I am 76 and can't believe it. LOl

Running an adult hockey league for many decades now I've seen many men come and go during frigid weather to the ice rink and into or out of the parking lot. I can think of only 3 of them that dressed close to what you described.

One would wear just a T-shirt into the rink on below zero days. Why? All I could get out of him is "because he could" ? The other 2 were the youngest of my old men group of players, one of which is playing this year as he just turned 21.

He never wears long pant to the rink because he said it is easier to get into his hockey gear and back out of it after the game. He said it is only a bit cold when he gets into his car after the game until it warms up.

Me? I dress in layers and the colder it is the more layers I wear, including a balaclava that pretty much covers my whole face.

I work at a university & see young men wearing short pants & flip-flop year round. I guess their youth keeps them warm. I also know someone whose spouse won't wear long pants unless he absolutely has to, like at their wedding. At least he has decent-looking legs.

Mr henny wears shorts year round. Getting him to wear long pants is a struggle. By the way Big Dog is having a huge short sale today.

I often see young men wearing shorts, T-shirts, hoodies and flip-flops during cold weather.

However, last Saturday (during a bout of 40-degree weather in Dallas), I saw a woman wearing a tank top, running shorts and flip-flops while shopping at Costco. She had to be freezing!
