Hello my friends! Well, it's been quite a day! My dear husband fell 3 times on ice today - and really hope he never got a concussion. We called Ann, our friend, and a nurse, and he talked to her, he doesn't have any of the symptoms of a concussion - praise the Lord. Hope tomorrow's a better day as he works seven hours. Please pray for him and I thank you all most sincerely. He starts work at nine. Blessings today is that he could have been worse, so we thank our God for that blessing, among many, many more!!! May we all continue to count our blessings every day!

God values us so much that He gave us all that He has; His Son Jesus.

Show that you value Him, too, by putting Him first in all aspects of your

life. Lord, when I put You first in my life, order and peace follow.

Scripture for the day:

"Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; O LORD, heal me, for my

bones are shaking with terror. My soul also is struck with terror, while

you, O LORD--how long? Turn, O LORD, save my life; deliver me for the sake

of your steadfast love." ~Psalm 6:2-4

Meditation for the day:

I believe that all sacrifice and all suffering is of value to me. When I am

in pain, I am often tested. Can I trust in God, not matter how I feel? Can

I say, "Your will be done," no matter how much I am defeated? If I can do

these things, my faith is real and practical. It can work in bad times as

well as in good times. God's will can work in a way that is beyond my

finite mind to understand, but I can still trust in it.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may take my suffering in my stride. I pray that I may accept

pain and defeat as they come, and grow spiritually as I receive God's

strength to make it through.

OFF KILTER FAN

By Marion Smith

Jer.8:22

The ceiling fan in the guest room was off kilter. Each time the blades

made a rotation, I cringed. In the beginning, it wasn’t too annoying,

but as time progressed I was afraid the entire fan would drop to the

floor, bent and broken into bits. I called the handyman to repair the

fan, and he promptly arrived to our house with tools in hand. He

tinkered and toyed with the fan, and it seemed, for a while at least,

to be repaired. Before long it made its lopsided rotation again. The

repairs were short lived and the fan once again appeared to be on the

verge of toppling. Something had to be done, or we would lose it. I

called the electrician, (the professional)which is what I should have

done in the first place. He repaired the fan for us, and cleared up a

couple of other trouble spots for us.

God is just like that electrician. He is the professional we should

turn to when our life is off kilter. When we wobble and groan with

difficult turns of life, and it appears our lives will crash and

shatter, God will comfort and sustain us, and repair our hearts . Then

we can face our problems and be equipped to handle them.

Unfortunately, we often search for solutions in other places, just as

I had done when I called the handyman . These other solutions might be

immersing ourselves in alcohol or drug, going on a spending spree, or

perhaps just withdrawing from reality. They may suffice for a short

time, but they have no long term healing power. Only God can pour the

healing balm on our hearts, and help us through difficult times. We

must ask for His help, though, just as I called the electrician and

asked for his. The good news is God is available 24 hours a day. There

will be no answering machine or call forwarding to Him. The line of

communications is open and direct.. we reach Him through the wonderful

and awesome power of prayer.

If your life is off kilter and possibly on the verge of falling and

crashing, call out to God. He is waiting to hear from you. He is the

master repairman, with the correct tools to handle your very own

personal problem.

CHURCH FOOTBALL

Quarterback Sneak - Church members quietly leaving during the invitation.

Draw Play - What many children do with the bulletin during worship.

Half-time - The period between Sunday School and worship when many choose

to leave.

Benchwarmer - Those who do not sing, pray, work, or apparently do anything

but sit.

Backfield-in-Motion - Making a trip to the back (restroom or water fountain)

during the service.

Staying in the Pocket - What happens to a lot of money that should be given

to the Lord's work.

Two-minute Warning - The point at which you realize the sermon is almost

over and begin to gather up your children and belongings.

Instant Replay - The preacher loses his notes and falls back on last week's

illustrations.

Sudden Death - What happens to the attention span of the congregation if the

preacher goes "overtime".

Trap - You're called on to pray and are asleep.

End Run - Getting out of church quickly without speaking to any guest or

fellow member.

Flex Defense - The ability to allow absolutely nothing said during the

sermon to affect your life.

Halfback Option - The decision of 50% of the congregation not to return for

the evening service or Bible study.

Blitz - The rush for the restaurants following the benediction.

-- Author Unknown

DEVELOP THE RIGHT SELF ATTITUDE

Author Unknown

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy

self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and

it's wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so

you're in conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your

future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't

always assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong;

both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts

on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God

gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a

point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He

uses you because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have

manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what

you do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

Sayings of Mother Teresa

Jesus came amongst his own and his own received him not

He knew suffering and loneliness.

He knows your pain, Bruised, divided, full of pain and wounds as you are,

accept Jesus as he comes into your life

and recognize him when once more he comes in his distressing disguise.

Be not afraid in your suffering.

God loves you. As miserable, weak and sinful as we are.

He loves us with an infinitely faithful and forgiving love.

Gloria, I am so sorry to hear that Linus fell. I can't help but mention, though, that he should go to the ER to have himself looked at. No nurse can tell whether he sustained damage and some people who have a concussion are at great risk.....well, I don't want to scare you but a nurse is not an appropriate person to assess his condition. Serious concussions sometimes have NO symptoms.

I will pray that he is alright today but please think about the ER or at least run it by a board certified physician.

marmot24 - It doesn't look like he has any ill effects from his fall - he felt good this morning and went to work - his new appliance job. Thank God he didn't break a bone! You're so welcome - and I'm so glad that you are here with us!

Bobbiesue - thanks! Yes it could have been much worse, you broke your hip when you fell a couple years ago! Takes a long time to heal.

serenity - I wanted him to go get checked out, but he refused saying he don't need to. He has his doctor's appointment scheduled for Wednesday morning anyway. But he seems fine this morning - hopefully he's having a good day at work. Thanks for your concern.
