Public restrooms and purses

If I go into a public restroom I can't put my purse on the floor in the stall. I have to hang it up on something or hang on to it. Mostly it's because I perceive the floor to be dirty and it's easy to steal. Are you the same way or don't you care?

Same way! I picture someones hand coming underneath and taking off with it and me trying to get my drawers up.

If there is no hook, I hold it/put it on tp rack.

I try not to put my handbag on any floor, & most certainly wouldn't put it on a restroom floor. Be careful about hanging your bag on the door hook. There have been cited cases of women reaching over & grabbing the bag & running away. I've noticed in some public restrooms they've attached the door hook much lower, so it would be too hard for someone to just reach inside & grab the bag.

I read something that said if your purse has a strap put the purse strap around your neck.

I have never done that though I probably would end up strangled lol

I usually use the hook but it is risky.

If there are no hooks, I will hang it around my neck like a feedbag. There's no way I'll EVER put anything on the floor of a public bathroom. NEVAH!!!!!!

On the floor--never. I use a shoulder bag. If there is a hook I wrap the strap around the hook so it can't just be lifted and removed.

If there's no hook I try to hold bag on my shoulder or if the straps are long enough do that cross body thing. Oh yeah, Preds, better not be a camera in that hand sneaking up under the stall, LOL

Oh I will have to remember that one. I am so careful I try not to put my handbags on my own floors at home. Feet are feet and we travel everywhere all day long everyday then go home!!

I always hang my purse or hold it, never put it on the floor in a rest room. Word of caution, if you hang your purse on a hook on the stall door - if it's a double-hook (top and bottom, not side by side) always hang it on the lower hook. If it's a single hook, you should double wrap your handbag handle if you can. There have been incidents locally where handbags were snatched off the hooks by someone reaching over the top of the stall door. Obviously, you wouldn't be in a position to get up and immediately pursue the purse snatcher.

In my area a lot of restaurants are now putting the hook in the middle of the door rather than near the top. It seems that way it would be much harder to steal a purse should someone try to reach over the top of the door to grab it.

I use the hook or, if not there, will place purse on top of TP holder. No matter how clean they look the floors are dirty places.

I do the same. I've been none to stuff a clutch bag down my bra.

That's exactly what I do. I wrap the shoulder strap around the hook several times, so that if someone were to try to lift it off, it wouldn't go easily.

On the rare occasion that the hook is missing or the TP holder isn't large enough for my bag to fit on top, I put a few layers of clean TP on the floor, then put my pocketbook on the clean TP. Once I get home, I always clean the bottom of my bag very carefully. I never put the bag near the toilet, and not right by the door, but halfway in between.

Y'all have some GREAT tips. Especially about reaching over the top and snatching the bag from the hook. I never thought of that.

There are some funny mental images of what to do with the purse...the feedbag one!

I always think someone will reach over the door and snatch my purse. I've placed my purse over my neck if there are no hooks.
