I rarely add milk or sweetners, but sometimes I do for a few black teas. I always drink my iced tea without sweetener, but sometimes I like flavored ice teas, like mango or passionfruit.

I live in Texas, where the popular drink is Sweet Tea - iced tea with so much sugar that it's more like tea-flavored Kool-Aid. I think it's terrible. I was once in a restaurant where they mislabeled the Sweet Tea versus the unsweetened tea and a woman filled her cup with unwanted Sweet Tea. She took a sip, made a gagging sound, and asked if someone was trying to poison her. I do not think her response was out of line.

Do you drink it black? I'm not referring to Chai, which is supposed to be a "milky" tea, but black tea. That's supposed to be the way to drink it to obtain its health benefits, but I can't.

I've drunk tea since I was a child, black tea with a little milk. As an adult, though, I've found I have to add just a little sweetener. I guess I really don't care about the health benefits, I just want to enjoy my tea!

How about you?

I'm a fairly new tea drinker. For my entire life, I never drank tea or coffee, but because of its health benefits, I've been drinking green tea and experimenting with a few other varieties. I drink it plain, with no milk or sweeteners.

I'm really beginning to enjoy it. I especially love the flavored teas. I found an organic peppermint tea that I just love and just placed an order with Republic of Tea for their vanilla-flavored dandelion tea. It's wonderful, and caffeine-free.

Because of my recent interest in tea, I've also expanded my collection of pretty teacups. I'm having fun finding them in consignment shops and on ebay. If you drink tea, you might as well do it in style! LOL.

Love black tea. I just can't get on the green tea bandwagon...not sure why. And I've always added a little sweetener to my black tea. I'll drink it plain, but I prefer it with the sweetener.

I've tried the various flavors, and although good I always go back to vanilla black tea (Bigelow's). However, those strong malty teas are pretty tasty (Yorkshire Gold).

Topaz - Is there one particular brand of green tea that you enjoy, for the taste?

The reason I ask is that I currently just use plain old decaf Lipton tea bags and one time my husband was going to pick up a box for me. He ended up buying the Lipton decaf GREEN tea bags. I figured, what the heck - I'll try it. Well, it tasted like grass - really bad grass! Fortunately, I found a wonderful home for the rest of the box (she was thrilled to get them).

But I haven't tried green tea since that. One favorite of mine is English Breakfast Tea but since I have to have decaf, it's not found everywhere.

My grandmother introduced me to tea as a child :-). I like an Assam with h/h and sugar. I enjoy the ritual of steeping the tea when I have time and use a matching Spode pot and tea cup. I read Tea Time magazine. Sometime I will enjoy my grandmother's favorite Lipton (black.) in those days she used carnation or pet evaporated milk.

I don't drink tea for health benefits, I drink tea because I like tea. When we were kids, my mom and my grandmother gave us our tea with a little milk and a lot if sugar. But, now, I like my tea strong and black with one packet of Splenda. I don't care for fruity teas, I drink Earl Grey at home. But any black tea will do. Someone gave me honey vanilla chai tea bags for Christmas; I didn't think I would like it but I love it. It's become my evening dessert.

Depends on the tea! For darker black tea like breakfast teas, Assams and morning teas, I take milk and rarely add a sugar cube. I am having some right now! Fortnum Mason Breakfast Tea I got on sale at Williams-Sonoma. That is one of my favorite teas and I bought three cans! LOL! Darjeelings, some Ceylons and China black teas or teas labeled "afternoon" I usually take plain without milk or sugar. Oolongs I take plain as well as green teas (Harney Green Gunpowder with Lemon is fabulous!). ICED TEA is always plain with lots of ice. NO sugar!

Upton Tea website has good information about what teas seem to work best with milk, lemon, sugar. If you add sugar and lemon, put the sugar in first because the lemon slice makes the sugar harder to dissolve. Never add milk and lemon--unless you like your tea with buttermilk! LOL!!!

Most teas I drink just with a hint of sweetener, like a tad of honey, or agave. However, a straight-up English Breakfast or any heartier tea, I will sometimes add a little milk to. Depends upon my mood.

It can vary depending upon the type of tea being consumed.

Generally, for back tea (served hot), I have a little artificial sweetener and milk. Occasionally, I will add lemon rather than milk, and occasionally, I drink it plain.

For all iced teas, I drink it plain (no sweetener) with the occasionally slice of lemon.

I get China Black tea from a local health food store, about $18.00 a pound. I use 1/4 c to make a gallon at a time. I like it plain, but can drink sweet tea when I go out. I like hot tea once in a while with a little sugar. We drink tea year round at my house.
