Keurig Tea Why

Why would one purchase a K Cup of tea when you can purchase (and steep) a tea bag? I just put my much cheaper tea bag in my mug instead of loading a tea K Cup into the machine. Clean up is just the same except throwing away a paper tea bag has less environmental impact than the plastic tea K Cup.

I agree, even my 7 yr old granddaughter has figured out to put the hot cocoa mix in the cup and just add the hot water!

I'll agree it's much less expensive to buy the tea bags, but I gotta tell ya ....those k-cups of tea made in the Keurig are the best cups of tea I've ever had!

I agree. The tea bags are pre-measured so it's so easy with my keurig.

I agree. It is so easy to make tea with my Keurig by simply putting a teabag in my mug.

That's usually what I do. I normally just use the hot water button and add the bag or tea leaves afterward. I do have some tea k-cups that came with my machine or were samples and I did buy some k-cup teas when they were with on display near the milk and I was lazy. (Kudos to the person who put the giant k-cup display near the coffee creamers and milk! I bet they sell a lot more.)

I have dozens of boxes and canisters of tea, so I see no real need to go out and buy boxes of k-cups. The Keurig doesn't change the Tea Bag + Hot Water = Tea equation.

Teas vary in steeping time by type. It doesn't make sense to have water speed through a k-cup if the tea's natural steeping time is 5 minutes or more.

I have to believe k-cups are instant tea. Any steeped tea is better than that. Tea needs to steep to develop real flavor--and different teas steep at different times.

I think Keurig has a mystique, a cult following. That's the only reason I can come up with to explain why people put up with the steep price of both the machine and the cups. I'd like to see some blind taste tests with Keurig against my $19.00 Black & Decker or my neighbor's ancient percolator.

I like my Keurig. A fresh cup always beats coffee that's been sitting in the pot. And I only make what I'm going to drink, instead of throwing away coffee.

I agree, ennui1.

And I like flavored coffee, sometimes I want my second cup to be a different flavor than the first. Keurig makes that easy for me.

My Keurig also saves me money; I no longer have coffee to throw away. I've never once purchased K-cups so the expense of them is not an issue for me.

It's probably a big convenience factor for many. Some may have a brewer at work or in a home office. If you are pressed for time, you can get your cup of tea quickly, no waiting for boiling water, steeping, etc. Not everyone likes coffee, and there are many options in tea K-cups, like chai tea, decaf.

I usually do bags for tea. I've tried the tea in K-cups but found you only get one cup.

I should have said that I do both. It was difficult to find the K-Cup BLACK tea decafinated.

I kept buying the wrong thing. Finally found it!

I would take your blind test challenge, my Vue vs your B&D. I'd even take it vs a percolator, don't know if it would win, but it would most definitely win in the speed and fresh brewed every cup. My Vue brews so much more flavorful that the old Keurig and more flavorful than any drip coffeemaker I've tried. I rarely buy Vue cups, as I use solo-fill reusable cups and my own ground coffee.

Why do people feel it necessary to play the cult following card simply because they don't like a product?

It's funny but some people have almost a religious fervor about old-style coffee makers, hair products and serving dishes. I think everyone has to have a hobby!

I think there's also a point that no one has addressed here..for some, making a cup of tea to their taste can be a challenge. My mother is visually impaired, but she knows by putting the tea K-cup in her keurig, it will come out just as she likes it. Its definitely been a god send for her.

I do wonder how the speed of keurig hot water elicits a good cup of tea. Is a tea bag more difficult to manage than a K Cup? What is the Enviromental impact of a paper tea bag versus a plastic cup?

Here's why I do it: because I LIKE TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still make all of my iced tea (I keep four L&L pitchers of iced tea in the fridge at all times) with tea bags, but the convenience of a Keurig - popping in different flavors at different times without any trouble at all is wonderful. I also have an electric typewriter at work and write thank you notes.
