Although I am sad that my husband is out of town, I am glad that I am alone in the house because I am singing along LOUDLY with all the performances.

I love Bette! Her performance was top notch!

Traveler, yes that was from "Somewhere in Time" (by Rachmaninoff). It's my favorite move.

I am a total Bette Midler fan! Oh, my gosh, she is and has always been such an incredible performer. Cutting edge. I'll watch anything she does, and tonight's performance showed she's still got it

When Bette sang tonight, I had tears in my eyes. She is truly divine!

I just wish she'd been allowed to finish what she said. She seemed overwhelmed by the standing ovation, and I'd have loved to see her reaction.

NoelSeven and Sunny -- Ditto all of this, exactly! I also wanted to know what she said at the end, just as it cut to commercial...could hear her starting to talk. She seemed so genuinely surprised and touched by the standing ovation. She's one of my favorite performers ever. My first date with DH was to a Bette Midler concert back in the early 1970s....fabulous! Now, that's not the reason I love her so much, but it sure brings back good memories. NoelSeven - From a Distance really touches me, too. Did you ever hear her song Lullaby in Blue (a mother's message to the baby she gave up for adoption)? That's another tear-jerker.

My apologies to the OP...I must've been posting about Bette about the same time and didn't see this thread. Love, love, LOVE Bette Midler!!

I like Bette Midler but I don't like that song.

Did she seem slimmer? I thought she did.
