My Strange Addiction

This was on TLC (what else?) last night.

The first story was about a guy who is love with his car named Chase.

The car is a male.

The guy has had s*x with his car.

I could only watch the first few minutes of this show, before I had to turn it off.

Just too freaky for me!

Sorry I can't remember the show, but not long ago there was a storyline about a woman who was "in love" with an inanimate object - I forget what it was (or maybe I am trying to blot it out of my mind - LOL). It was very sympathetic to her - and about how she suffered because the rest of us judged her and did not "understand."

Now this. Apparently a series on this type of thing.

Actually, there is a legitimate psychological disorder called objectophilia. You can Google it. Wiki has a good description.

I don't think it's something to be mocked.

As for "accepting" these things...i don't think.it leads to normalization. It's more about understanding.

What would be better.... should we shun or torment people we don't understand?

Recognizing that a segment of the entire world population has brain synapses that are different from the norm is not "normalizing" their brain patterns. It is simply recognizing that these segments exist, just as we recognize that schizophrenia exists.

Loving an object is far less of a social difficulty or social problem (except maybe for the subject) than a severe mental illness. Object lovers live in all societies, I suppose. Should we pretend they don't?

OK then since it is a "legitimate orientation" and since Erika Eiffel obviously benefited from marrying the tower, should we redefine marriage to include this as well?

Should schools teach kids that this is a legitimate option for s8xual experimentation - and definitely not something to laugh about or to bully over?

I only know this next story cause I watch Real Time and this was one of his new rules...

there is a guy trying to sue a pizza company because his pizza was too hot. He was trying to have s*x with the pizza and burned himself! omg.

I can "love" an inanimate object - I love Monet's waterliliies series, but that doesn't mean I want to have relationships with it.

This has nothing to do with "normalization" at all, tolerance, understanding. I think that people like that are mentally unstable and should be helped. But I doubt people are going to think that this type of behavior is normal

These types of shows - the Duggers, Honey Boo-Boo, the housewives stuff - people don't watch them because they think the subjects are normal. They watch it because they AREN'T normal. It is another version of a looky loo - the people that slow down to see a horrible accident on the road.

I'm assuming comparing Sister wives to a man with a wife and 3BFFs - she meant the wife was having s*x with the extra men.

But either way.

Is having sequential children with several men more normal - or better for the children?

Same goes for watching a family of almost 20 people. It is odd, strange and slighty off to the norm. Thus people want to see them.

Well, when we think about it, he's only legally married to Meri - so he has one wife who has 3 BFF's and he's sleeping with all of them. Oh, and having children with all of them too. I still like them, watch the show all the time and I don't know why What is so captivating about them? lol

I don't believe that being in love with your car is really an addiction. So, what happens when the car is taken away?? Does the guy go into seizures or something?? Those are not addictions, rather fetishes I believe. I could be wrong but it makes for good TV for those who are watching.

Same with "Hoarders". Those people really don't need to be told "oh, my, how can you live like this?" "this is not healthy for you", etc, etc.... These people don't even hear what is being said to them. They are mentally ill and need therapy and one house-cleaning isn't the answer. All those houses look the same after the first few anyway and the hoarders all have reasons. They either lost someone dear to them or were molested. I don't know why they are being exploited like that. Where do them come from anyway?
