Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Today I got a message from Darla that Metro State University in Mpls. called her to fly her in for an interview in Mpls around the middle of March! Yesterday when I was talking to her, she didn't think they'd call anymore, and I told her that Miracles do happen and God answers prayer! This brings my hopes up so high again, this was last year that she was flown in for the interview at that place, but she wasn't hired then, maybe, God Willing, now is the time! I thank all of you who pray for her! We just got back from another birthday celebration at a restaurant of the birthday girl's choice (Linus' sister). Next will be Linus' birthday - he chooses not a restaurant but a Chicken Fry at a Church.

Keep yourself young in spirit always by thinking new thoughts

and getting rid of old habits. Lord, may my spirit never become

frail and my abilities never become barren.

Scripture for the day:

"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance

Meditation for the day:

Each new days brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will

help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little

nearer to being realized on earth. We can take each day's happenings

as opportunities for something we can do for God. In that spirit, a

blessing will attend all that we do. When we offer this day's service

to God, we are sharing in God's work. We do not have to do great

things.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the

loving thing. I pray that I may be content with doing small things as

long as they are right.

The Four Candles

The Four Candles burned slowly.

Their Ambiance was so soft you

could hear them speak...

The first candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me

lit."

Then Peace's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

The second candle says, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer

indispensable."

Then Faith's flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.

Sadly the third candle spoke, "I Am Love and I haven't the strength to stay

lit any longer."

"People put me aside and don't understand my importance. They even forget to

love those who are nearest to them."

And waiting no longer, Love goes out completely.

Suddenly...

A child enters the room and sees the three candles no longer burning.

The child begins to cry, "Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay

lit until the end."

Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy, "Don't be afraid, for

I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles."

With Shining eyes the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the other three

candles.

Never let the Flame of Hope go out of your life.

With Hope, no matter how bad things look and are...Peace, Faith and Love can

Shine Brightly in our lives.

THE CARPENTER

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of

his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely

life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck,

but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see

his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a

personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that

his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used

inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the

house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is

your house," he said, "my gift to you."

What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own

house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the

home he had built none too well.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather

than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do

not give the job our best effort.

Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we

are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have

done it differently.

Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you

hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only

life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that

day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity.

Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past.

Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you

make today.

A GLASS OF MILK

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way

through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his

nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked

for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large

glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"

"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to

accept pay for a kindness." He said... "Then I thank you from my heart." As

Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his

faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were

baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in

specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for

the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a

strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of

the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see

her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room

determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special

attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly

requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He

looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to

her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of

her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her

attention on the side of the bill. She read these words... "Paid in full

with one glass of milk" Signed: Dr. Howard Kelly. Tears of joy flooded her

eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread

abroad through human hearts and hands.”

Hi Gloria.... I guess I'm gonna have to ask you and others to be the candles of hope for me. My sister who is suppose to be the liason so I can see my son without supervision is acting like she is going out of her way to do this and reminds me constantly of it. She is my sons my Godmother. She also is raising her granddaughter and they get to play and visit with each other while we visit. My problem is my sister is not nice-- not just to me but in general she is angry, unhappy and bitter. I pray for her but now its affecting my visits with my son. He is 7 and doesn't deserve this and today my sister screamed from the kitchen window that she didnt like me. Gloria you know my story so please pray that I find a place to visit my son in a safe place without a social worker typing what's being said but in a loving place.... I pray to Jesus but my faith seems like its being tested by the minute. .......felicia

Hello To All

Gloria, I think your daughter is going to do well on her interview. Birthday wishes for your husband. I've written my Love Roses blabs to you and have stopped receiving the Padre Pio inspirations - I figure you are occupied with many good things going on in your family and church.

We have rain here in Los Angeles. That is news for us and considered a big deal. It's not predicted to help with the drought situation, but any rain is welcome. I am grateful for what rain we do get. I am home today resting up from a busy two weeks. I learned what I can do better and differently for good in the future. I humble myself for improvement and growth.

Keeping all who have asked and posted in my highest and best thoughts. I am truly grateful for this blessed nation. She is good, strong, resilient, has outstanding troops, good allies, she is generous. We enjoy wonderful liberties, privileges, freedoms, and rights. I feel blessed to be living in the here and now. Be at peace and know you are loved.

Felicia - Continued prayers going for you daily! I'm so sorry about what your sister said to you, that is so mean! What's going on with her that makes her so mean? Guess we should pray for her too, for a good attitude. My goodness, how you are suffering, and your son, too. A seven year old son needs his Mom! Why can't they see that? You have my prayers and the prayers of others here too. May God grant you your heart's desires, Felicia.

Love Roses - I surely do hope Darla gets this job, I wonder why the Padre Pio reflections stopped coming? That is strange, but then again, Charter isn't that good, seems to skip alot, and the only way I find out is when people tell me. On our prayer line for our parish I found out by two people that they haven't been getting the prayer requests for a long time, and so I looked, and they were off the list - so charter must have done that, I didn't. The only thing is my MSN account has a limit so I can't send out my list there. So glad you got rain now - and more to come to get rid of the drought. Enjoy your time at home now resting up. You're a busy lady!!
