I don't know if I would go so far as to call him a charlatan, although he has made himself very rich off tapping into the human condition. There are many people in the world that need motivation and direction, need a "life coach" but can't afford one, and Tony's books and dvd's provide those people with some affordable advice. Like anything in life, you have to do something with information you are provided. I think lots of people buy into his enthusiasm, but then they read his books, or listen to the dvd's and are still stuck. They think their life will magically change overnight without doing the hard work.

I read his very first book. I thought his points were exactly right. There are a lot of things he probably can't say on tv, but I really liked that book.

They are all the same whether they are the Robbin types or the televangelists. They use people, their misery and their desire to be what they were never meant to be..., to get rich. They don't care if some poor somebody sends them the money they need for food or to pay their bills.

My psychology professor in college actually would openly recommend him to the students. I thought he was a good motivational speaker and he did help many to overcome whatever issues they had regarding their careers or personal life. However, it was up to each individual to make the efforts and changes and stick to them. Anything else Mr. Robbins promoted was then suspect IMHO. He had his era.

Obviously you don't care for him, and don't take this the wrong way, it's just an honest question... why do you care? You don't have to buy into what he is selling, but he has built his empire on motivation. There are people that his ideas have helped and he has lots of supporters, or he wouldn't be where he is. I am not one of his followers, just saying he would not have lasted so long if nothing he suggested helped anyone. I don't think people that are inspired to make their lives better are gullible and sad, but again, just reading a book or listening to his tapes isn't going to change someone's life, they actually have to do the work.

I was dialing by and saw this guy---I'd seen him before on various venues---ugh---what a fraud --given the fact that some of these "shoppers" fall for fake diamonds, fake gold, and other over-promised items on this "department store" I feel sad for these---it's really none of my business what people do---this simply my "VIEWPOINT"

Fair enough, it was just a question, not any attack. My viewpoint is that if someone is willing to spend their money on his product, for whatever their reasons, they should at least attempt to apply some of his principles to improve their life. It has worked for many, some people just need direction. If they don't try, then the gullible and sad part mostly falls on their shoulders. It's not Tony's fault if his advice doesn't work for everyone.

I have never believed him. When I first saw him on TV many years ago, I thought, why would people fall for his line? His appearance also turns me off.

I wouldn't call him a fraud or charlatan and do think there are some who need to be pointed in the right direction. There are those who claim his program really has helped them and there are many who use life coaches. My personal opinion is not that great. I am too independent to listen to all that stuff and I'm more the roll my eyes type when he is talking. I guess it just depends on everyone's personality type.

I would never call someone foolish for wanting to better their lives nor would I call him a fraud no matter what I think of his program. Many who have addiction problems and have gone to rehabs are connected with life coaches to guide them with great success.
