Doubt you are the only one, but I would say the same to anyone else that starts a thread like this just to get response. Start a thread for attention and then never respond to any of the replies, right?

Your handle says it all gramps! Would think someone that goes with a handle that gives the impression they are old? Guess not old enough to know how lucky you are to live in a country such as ours. If a person chooses there are plenty of outlets one can listen/watch/surf that have nothing about the Olympics.

Ever thought of avoiding these outlets and are causing you to be so ill?

No I feel the same way. If they never had them it would not make any difference at all. Just a waste of time and a lot of commercialism thrown in. Actually if sports were just non existent, it would certainly not make any difference. Seems like a lot of wasted energy, injury and bad feelings.

Oh hang in there, only a few more days to go. You can do it! Take up a hobby, try reading a book, rent a movie. Griping about things is bad for your soul.

The Greeks started the Olympics, doubt you will be able to change the tradition now. Lucky for you it's only every 2 years.

No, you have plenty of company. I cannot wait for it to be over. I'm just not fan of of winter sports. Sorry, Curling and Luge and Hockey are of no interest to me whatsoever. And I won't fake it. I enjoyed the ice dancing and I enjoyed the figure skating but I've had my fill. Bring on the closing ceremony!

John did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today? Can't someone say how they feel and not be told that they are old and not grateful to live in America??? Seems like a stretch to me to call someone ill also. Just not like you.

I am not sick of it per se but what I do not like is that I am signed up for CNN Breaking News Text Messages and I get a ton of them about the Olympics. Seriously - I don't consider the Olympics win/loss any type of Breaking News that would necessitate a Text to the World.

Athletes have worked hard for most of their lives to get to this point. Some enjoy cheering them on, admiring their strengths, determination, and courage. I think for two weeks every two years, people can be content to watch movies On Demand, listen to music, watch any of the hundreds of other channels, or read a book till it's over. No one makes anyone watch it.

Even for kids? No baseball, basketball, soccer, football? How about tennis or golf? Swimming?

I do not watch the Olympics (except for the figure skating, which I can never seem to catch it while it's on, they deliberately don't show a schedule).

However, the Olympics on NBC causes almost all of the other channels to change their schedules to reruns and insignificant programming, and that does irritate me.

I watch some, I like hockey and snowboarding, but can live without the rest. Figure skating is okay, I used to like it more but have lost interest.
