I think it may be a situation where people are quoting the posters ahead of them.

Don't worry about it.

In every category, it seems the same post is repeated. Other posters either quote it or for some reason a post appears multiple times. Often I have to scroll down the page before a new and different post appears. Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way I can just read new and different posts that were added to the original post? In other words what I am trying to say is ...when I read one poster's post, the replies seem to always include the original post and it is repeated several times.

Posts are repeated so people will know exactly which post they are responding to. Otherwise, because a thread moves so fast, posts get confused.

Yep.

(If that was how I replied in a thread that had many opposing opinions, without quoting the one I was actually agreeing with, it would be very confusing).

Just look for what is not in a box. That is the new information.

If I reply to with a "quote" such as yours above, it will be the only one you see. I ain't into guessing who is saying what to whom when you get 10-15-20 "quotes", don't make sense to me. I've mentioned this several times in some of the longer "quoted" posts, but it fell mostly on deaf ears/eyes.

It takes very little to leave in only the person to which you are quoting and replying. One can highlight and "Backspace to delete/hit the Delete key" to remove all the quotes but the one to which they are responding. Guess some just don't want to take a few seconds to do this and those are the ones that I pass on reading even on topics I would normally reply.

No there is no way for you to eliminate the previous posts. It remains up to the original commenter to delete all the quotes except the one he or she is commenting to in his post and most people seem to not know how to do that or are just too dang lazy!
