I'm loving the Russian Police Choir singing "Get Lucky". I also love that they found this chubby Russian woman from an earlier photo op with Matt (at the Lover's Bench) and she's also dancing with the group.

I'm chubby. I don't think it's offensive. She was dressed beautifully in a nice coat and matching boots. She looked adorable and the chubbiness was part of that.

I don't call people fat. Anyway, I think the woman is an actress... it was part of a skit they did with Matt sitting on this bench in the park that supposedly is where you can find love if someone comes along and sits on it with you. It had a dip in the middle. So this robust Russian lady in a big fur coat and head scarf comes and sits on it with him. It's one of those things you had to see... the humor gets lost in translation.

You shouldn't be sorry. I appreciate you expressing your opinion. You did it in a respectful way. We're just different. I'm larger sized and don't find it offensive. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm sorry you are offended, but I guess I don't understand why.... the fact is, she was a large woman. Would you have preferred Deb used the word "fat" rather than "chubby"? Kind of seems like tomato/tomato to me.

You could tell she was a very confident woman and was in on the joke. She also looked older than Matt. I just love how she carries herself. Her matching winter apparel -- just looked very stylish.

I'm skipping all the TODAY nonsense to watch the actual athletes compete over on NBCSN. Love Speedskating! Plus, after Matt's dismal boring commentary during the Opening Ceremonies, I won't watch anything he does.

Deb, did you see Al's interview with the Gold medal winning snow boarders, Sage Kotsenburg and Jamie Anderson? They are so cute and look so happy. When he was trying to get explanations on some of the snow boarder lingo and he came up with words they didn't know... he asked them what crunchy meant, they laughed and said "you mean crispy".. Al was like... meh, crispy/crunchy. LOL! Sage is so laid back and adorable. Everyone seems to be having a great time over there. I know it's early on in the games, but glad it's going so well thus far.

I love speedskating too. I just tune Matt out, he has his obligatory role. I liked Meredith during the opening ceremonies, glad she is over there. She has a way of keeping Matt in check.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't have used either word. Just a lady, non descript..

Well she could have, but the point of the skit was that the woman was large. Seems far too much scrutiny has gone into this issue. Why am I never surprised...

Why is it that thin women don't seem to get offended when another woman is described as thin... but large women are offended when another large woman is described that way? What another person looks like isn't any reflection on me, so I wouldn't take offense. I don't get it.

Yes, I saw the interview and it was hilarious with the whole crunchy vs. crispy thing. What about "shredding a dookie" or whatever Matt said that was supposed to mean falling off the chair lift and they had never heard of it? Someone must've been putting on whomever did the preshow interview for that segment! LOL

I LOVE Sage! He was so cute dancing with the Russian woman and putting his arm around her.

It was part of who she was -- larger than life in so many ways... good ways. I don't think being larger sized is a bad ugly thing. My DH calls me chubby in an endearing way. It's how I refer to myself. No big deal.
