BRANDONLEE...I wish we could all reach out & give you a hug....please don't give up. It's not too late. Reading news reports like this is important, but there could be many, many factors for someone to develop lung cancer. Every second you're not smoking, your lungs are healing. One day, you'll breathe deeper! You'll notice things smelling better! Your taste buds will jump to life...food will taste better! Your senses will be hyper...life will be sweeter. Please don't give up. Can you start moving more? Just a walk around the block will wake up the lungs. Sure there will be withdrawals....close your eyes & just direct that energy to something else until the feeling goes away. If anything, get on these boards...we'll be here for you!

The first step is always the hardest, Brandonlee! But you've taken it. No turning back now. I quit 30 years ago........and the only thing that worked for me was cold turkey. I knew that just cutting down wasn't going to do it for me.......I was addicted.......and the only way to stop......was to just stop.

Good luck! As Nike would say.....Just do it!!!

Don't mess with the e-cigs. Waste of money in my opinion. I've quit and started back several times and I know what didn't work for me. I've had friends that chewed on straws for that need of something. Maybe that would work for you .... they graduated down to coffee stirs and then made it.

It's never too late. I would advise you to explore ALL your options. One size doesn't fit all. Over the years I quit many times, sometimes cold turkey, two times with the patch, and one time I used Chantix. None of those things worked for me long-term. What did work for me was e-cigs. I haven't smoked a cigarette for two years, and have reduced my nicotine level to 3mgs. I'm not saying for you to do what I did, but I do encourage you to explore your options, and do what works for you.

Go to Walgreen's and get you one of the Blu disposable e-cigs for about $10. It's not the best, but this will hold you over and keep you and your husband from killing each other for a few days, up to about a week. Do not judge all e-cigs based on the sharpie marker sized Blu e-cig.

I highly recommend the company Vapor4Life out of Northbrook, IL. Their customer service is top-notch and they have frequent sales. They have starter kits to fit just about every want or budget and they've also come out with a new disposable (which I have not tried). I'd like to suggest that you order your starter kit with a manual battery. I started with the automatic batteries and ended up exchanging them for the manual ones. I've been much happier with those.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to try and help you. I know it's all overwhelming and confusing to sort through. Been there, done that. Congrats on taking the first step!!

Disclaimer: I do not work for this company, but I have been a loyal customer for close to 18 months.

I also highly recommend using e-cigs to quit. If you have it firmly in your mind that you are only going to use them to quit, they will be very helpful in your quest to be smoke free. That's how I did it and it was relatively easy...took me about three months on e-cigs before I tapered off them and quit completely.

You'll still be growling that you want a real cigarette, but that feeling will pass after a while. Honestly, the Blu e-cig is only going to be to hold you over until you get your order from another company. You will likely not be happy with that big, clumsy thing, but I promise... it will take the edge off.

As for your other question... that's any easy one. It's because smokers are 4th class citizens and it's much easier to mock, shun, and humiliate them, than it is to reach out their hands to help them. I know, I've been there.

Stay tough. When I get down to zero nicotine, and I'm almost there, I will still buy the liquid in 0 strength because I like the hand to mouth part of it.
