What are your young memories of the Beatles?

I was only 7 years old when the Beatles came over here. My best friend (the neighbor girl) went and got a Beatles hair cut. I was sooo jealous. It was just a bowl cut, but she called it a Beatles hair cut. So I begged my mom until I got my hair cut like that too!

We also had a club house. It was made in a place where a lumber yard used to store extra lumber. We made walls, a roof, etc. We would keep rotten tomatoes out of the gardens in a bowl and throw them at the kids (my brother and his friends) we didn't want in our club. LOL This club was called THE YELLOW SUBMARINE. We would sing that song over and over.

Loved the Beatles.

I remember I was going to marry Paul. Somehow, he was going to come to America, find this kid, fall in love and take me back to England. ha ha ha

I was a freshman in high school. I remember them on the Ed Sullivan show & my dad recording it on a tape recorder. A year later I went to see them in Los Angeles at a concert. John was always my favorite.

That's hilarious mima! We are about the same age. I remember two things...our next door neighbor girl singing "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at the top of her lungs through her bedroom window, and seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I remember that mom liked them alot. She couldn't stand Elvis!

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album released in 1967 for some reason fascinated me. I could stare at it for hours looking at all the people. Of course I was only 5 and 1/2 years old when it came out but I thought the Beatles were cute, could sing, and a little bit scary.

I was in grade school, but remember it like it was yesterday. They took the country by storm! I remember sitting cross-legged on the floor watching them on the Ed Sullivan show. They were so cute, charming, and funny in interviews. Most of all, I remember the music. I literally grew up with it and the music evolved through the years in such a way that you could never outgrow it. It grew and matured with you.

My local radio station is doing a tribute to the Beatles where they play 4 songs in a row every hour. It's so nice hearing some of that music again. I still remember all the words.

I thought they were the four cutest guys ever! Loved their music, and still do. They were the exact right people that came together at the exact right moment in time. They and their music are still popular today so they have withstood the test of time. I remember my mom liking them too - she thought John was very cute. I would have run off with any of them, given the opportunity.

I was a freshman in High School when they came to America to be on Ed Sullivan - my Mom let me and my girlfriends watch it on her bedroom TV and we were screaming and hugging each other. - OMG ! Over the years I came to enjoy their music much better as it matured but I was not into the drug thing and the music they wrote during that time.i was also very dissappointed when John married Yoko as I associated her with them using drugs. I was crushed when John was killed.

I must have gone to seen the movie HELP three dozen times when a teen and I know every word on every song still by heart from the HELP album.

I was 14 or 15 when they first came to the US. A local radio station ran a contest when they came to New Orleans and a couple of my friends and I won tickets to the concert. It was held in a stadium, but the contest winners had special seats set up down on the field right in front of the stage. We were in 7th heaven until the second song, when girls started leaping down onto the field from the stadium seats. The police were caught off guard, but then they formed a riot line and forced everyone back to the stadium seating area, including those of us who were actually supposed to be down on the field. By then,the wooden folding chairs we had been seated in were broken in pieces! So we sadly listened to the rest of the concert from the stands without any seats. It was the beginning of Beatlemania, and soon police all over the world became used to holding back hysterical girls whenever the Beatles performed.

I have about 200 cards with one complete series. I still enjoy looking at them. Some of them have corny little blurbs on the back. I remember how excited I was when the color ones came out. My Paul in color! The bubble gum that came with it was rock hard. It was awful, but I felt compelled to chew it just because it came with the card.

tansy: They used to be very collectible. Now that "Beatlemania" is back in vogue, it wouldn't surprise me to see them for sale again, and not just for true collectors.

I was in grade school and we had Beatles parties. We would dress up as our favorite Beatle. Mine was Paul at the time and I "claimed" him because I thought I actually looked a lot like him -- big round eyes and arching eyebrows. I had long hair with a side sweep of bangs, so all I had to do was put my hair up in the back. I remember exactly the outfit I wore -- black turtleneck, tight, straight light blue pants, and boots. Everyone brought their 45's to the party. Four of us would stand around strumming on tennis racquets (or whatever else was suitable as a guitar) and drums, and sing along with the records. We thought we were so cool.

Oh, no. I didn't write the blurbs. They were funny little Beatles factoids that were printed as part of the card.
