I hope you're right. We are desperate for snow this winter. BUT don't count on it. Local weather forecasters are hoping for a small amount of snow early in the week in the high peaks. We are in the mid 89's today and tomorrow in Denver and the front range. Thanks for the congrats, but it's way too early to tell what real winter will look like.

@Kachina624 I am in CA, the southern edge of the Santa Clara Valley. The weather has been cooler this summer than usual. We did have a couple high 90's, and a 100 degree days a week ago. But sept is usually one of the hotter months for us. The air is cool at night, even cold. I think El Niño will come. I hooe we all get the water we need. Believe me California feels your pain. Although CA has been better last 2 years, we have suffered drought

Especially in late 70's early 1980's. We had water restrictions galore. Watering lawns was restricted, and using over a certain amt of water was restricted. Fines and levy's ensued. . The county installed flow restrictions on showers and main valves. We collected plant water in showers in pans, put bricks in toilet tank. California had the bumper sticker saying, "If it's yellow, be mellow. If it's brown, flush it down". lol. And they meant it. lol. The whole pool industry went out of business here . Pools not only were restricted, but limits on water were capped. Many filled pools in, drained them, for skate board tracks..lol. True. How do you think Tony Hawk got started? . Anyway. Let's hope for the best.

Wow-- A few days ago I just booked my dear husband an early December Colorado ski trip--we are keeping our fingers crossed there will be a vast improvement this year over last year with the snow totals. He has skied in Colorado as early as Veteran's Day, but last year the West was pretty awful.

For non-skiers, the West is famous for powdery-soft flakes, while the East is the home of firm, icy snow. East coast skiers have to learn to negotiate steep, packed down icy mountains, so when they go out West to the soft, fluffy, dry powder they are in heaven!

No, I do not ski, but I fully support my husband's sports hobbies, as he supports all of mine (including my shopping!!).

I never knew that about the ski pack. I know everyone down here loves Tahoe, and they do talk about the "powder" my husband just got back from Tahoe today, he motorcycled with a group there this weekend! Snow is expected there next week I thought. He said the nights were very cold this weekend. . I don't ski never had an interest...but admire those who do. Snow board I had more of an interest in. But t 78, with RA, and bad joints won't be snow boarding again any time soon! lol. Anyway, thanks for the info

Just this past summer the rivers downstream from the mountain creeks have been extremely low. The farmers have been suffering with no water to irrigate crops or have enough water to fill their cattle water troughs and ponds. The CO state gov decided it was time to release some of the water stored in the high-mountain water sheds and let them flow into the rivers downstream to increase the water supply. It's just dreadful here with the water situation. Fire season was a booger and it ain't over yet.

It seems that Denver, Boulder and other parts of CO no longer get snow. If they do, it doesn't last long. Temperatures in the 70s and 80s must be normal during the winter. Has Denver actually turned tropical lately? I would like that kind of weather, but it has its downsides.
