Has Anyone Watched Brian Boitano's Show on HGTV (The Boitano Project)

I caught a few back to back episodes late last night. Boitano won the Gold medal for figure skating in 88. He's now a designer/remodeler and restores old homes. The show featured him in Italy restoring a very old home he inherited from his ancestors in Italy. There's a town in Italy named Boitano and he has so many relatives that live there with that last name. If you haven't seen the show, you might find it interesting. Reminded me a bit of the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. Very charming.

I have tried several times to watch, but it does not hold my interest & I end up changing the channel.

I watched it but I don't care for that sort of rustic look so I wasn't impressed with the final reveal.

Yes!!! I love that show, just as much as I loved the house adventure in the book Under The Tuscan Sun. I don't have rustic in my house, but if I could buy a house in another country, I'd want it to be done in the rustic culture of the country.

I stumbled on it late one night and watched...really enjoyed it. It is on very late in my area. I would watch it again. I guess it had limited episodes?

Yes, I think there were only 4 episodes. I watched them all when they first aired, and I really enjoyed them. Even though the house need a total renovation, Brian really got a great deal from his Italian relatives on the price!

I loved this series. I enjoyed watching the transformation. The Cooking Channel did a one time special on the food he served on the last episode. I enjoyed that too.

I could not believe his female relatives took the furniture out of the house to sell for themselves.

I've been wondering about Brian's cousins, Alma and Marie....

(Although I never read the book, 'Under the Tuscan Sun,' I saw the movie, and thought it was fun and charming.)

I couldn't believe it either. I saw the part when he returned to Italy and found all the furniture gone and then I missed a few minutes (left the room) and came back and figured it was the two female relatives that took the furniture.

He bought that house from his family with the entire contents included, but I think when the two sisters saw all the furniture that their mother and relatives left behind, greed and sentimentality took over. I wonder if they were resentful of him having it all at that price? They never bothered to go into the house prior to him talking ownership and until he decided to restore it and then all of a sudden they wanted their share? So wrong! They should have asked him first. So I missed that part, but how did he find out it was them who "stole" the furniture.

Love him, but hadn't heard about this show. I watched his short-lived Food Network show a short while back and enjoyed it. I don't tend to watch HGTV, like ever, so I'll have to look for it. Thanks!

I remember speaking with you about this series.

His decorating style is not mine, but the house was lovely when he was done.

I've always like him. To see him take on this special project was a treat.

I think he said the two female cousins took it to sell at their antique shop. I'm not sure if something got lost in the translation, or they just took it????

Honestly, I don't remember seeing them at the family party on the last episode. Maybe the incident was settled off camera.

I've always been a fan of his but this show bored me.

I DID really enjoy his Food Network series, "What Would Brian Boitano Do?". It was fun and cute, IMO.

I really enjoyed it. I admire people who can take junk and see how it can be beautiful. He took that old ladder and made a towel rack out of it and the wine bottle into a chandelier. Some people really have a talent for that. I wish I did.

I think his house looked beautiful and it really didn't cost that much.

I enjoyed the show and loved the finished home. Made me want to move to Italy. It was nice to see all the help he got from family members. I truly enjoyed seeing him go to antique shops and seeing the furniture after it was refurbished.
