Today, July 30th at 1am my best friend and neighbor passed away. She was a believer that everyone has goodness within their hearts. She never judged people and she was in line first if a neighbor or a stranger needed help. When my husband passed away so quickly, Dana would sit with me, cry with me, make sure I ate and rested. She was strong in her faith. So tonight I share a little bit of Dana with you ladies. When I went to bed I had no idea Dana would no longer be across the street. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Hold close your family and friends and tell them how special they are to you. Thanking all of you for listening. Blessings to all......

@Sheila Morelan So sorry for your loss! We have lost a couple neighbors over the years. Long time neighbors too! One who died in 2010, I knew over 30 years, but my neighbor knew her since they moved in 1965! It was such a loss to her. Her kids grew up with hers. They exchanged babysitting...helped each other out everyday. Everyday just about they had coffee together. They were beasties! Oh my neighbor felt the loss for a long time time. I felt for my neighbors loss more than the other neighbor who passed!

@Sheila Morelan That was a wonderful tribute to your friend. I lost my dear friend/neighbor about three years ago and I still miss her so much. Sending good wishes your way as you grieve Dana's loss.

As one poster has said: Good friends are hard to find and as one ages, it gets harder still.

I join my condolences to all those who have or will post their condolences to you.

The grieving you will find yourself immersed in is a simple sign of how much they meant to you. Hopefully you will reach the point soon where the memory of them becomes a comfort or treasure you hold in your heart. ❤️

@Sheila Morelan - What a wonderful eulogy for your best friend! You remind us that we all need to strive to be like Dana. And you, whether or not you realize it, have absorbed her spirit.

Iam so sorry for your loss. It's very hard to lose a dear friend. I lost my best friend nine years ago and I still think of her every day. Your friend sounds like she was a lovely person.💔🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss. You're right - none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. We need to appreciate each moment.

I own a Joan Rivers necklace with a small egg-shaped pendant. Inside is a little scroll with the words:

"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is God's gift. That's why they call it the present."

@Sheila Morelan I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Dana sounds like your lifeline which will be difficult for you, but she'd want you to take time to grieve and then move on with happy memories of her.

She was a blessed friend and her passing will make each day different but you'll come out on the other side stronger.
