I hate Synchrorony Bank!!!

I am livid, so I am just letting off steam.

On July 8, I paid my CC balance with Synchrony Bank in full. $1150.17. The payment was made from my checking account. The next day, Synchrony again tried to take another $1150.17 from my checking account and my bank denied the payment for Nonsufficient funds.

I have the overdraft protection turned off on my bank account so money will not transfer if there is not enough funds in my checking account and I only keep what I need in checking. Never more than $100 balance. I transfer money from savings as needed.

My bank charged me $20 NSF fee which they reversed when I called them. I have never had an overdraft before.

Synchrony charged me $29 because their second attempt to get paid was denied.

I have called Synchrony several times this morning and spoke to five reps including management to get them to refund the $29 fee they charged me because their second payment attempt failed. They absolutely refuse to remove the charge. They said their policy does not allow them to do this no matter what.

I have four different cc with Synchrony. I only use their Master Card regularly. The other three are hardly used.

I am really ticked off and will never, ever use a cc issued by them again. I know many people have trouble with them and I guess my name is added to that list.

It's only $29, but it's stolen money. I am paying for their mistake.

Agree about Synchrony Bank. Terrible bank. I try to never use a credit card that is managed by that bank.

Don't have a Synchrony cc. I had a Visa from Chase but dropped them because I was having problems. I've had a Citi Mastercard for 25+ years and never had a problem. Also have a Capital One Visa that is good.

I would cancel all my cards and get another bank.

I have a Chase and Bank of America Visa. No payment issues but BOA was hacked once. Removed the charges instantly and sent a new card overnight. So many issues for many with that bank! I believe I once had a JC Penney card with them. Closed it soon after.

@Carmie So sorry that happened to you. I've never had a late fee, so I'm sure it's frustrating with them deducting it twice (trying to, anyways!).

I have other CC's with a different bank that I can and will use. I have been with Capital One forever and never had a problem so I will be okay.

@kaydee50 I closed my Citi card quite a few years ago because they kept upping the interest rate.

I called them a few times to complain and they lowered it again. Finally, I had enough. They said they would lower it again, but I told them I was tired of calling them every few months and to just close the account.

I always pay my balance in full every month, so I never pay any interest, but it was the principal. I have a credit score over 800 and they didn't give me good service.

I have Chase and Capital One and never had an issue.

@Carmie Did they add the $29 fee to your credit card balance, or take it from your bank account? I would continue to protest. I don't blame you for being mad. I would be livid too. I refuse to have a QVC credit card because I don't want to give QVC one more cent than I have too, and I know they get some kind of kickback from them. If they didn't, there would be no reason that QVC constantly pushes their credit card. All the people with problems with that bank should voice their frustration with QVC customer service. They can't do anything about it, but maybe if they get enough complaints, they can change what bank issues their credit cards.

They said I must have requested the double payment. I paid the bill on line. The requests were made less than a minute apart.

I don't remember having a problem with paying the bill. It went right through. No lagging or anything.

Not my favorite either !! I paid off my Q Card a few months ago, still have a issue to deal with. I also have my Dobbs Auto cc with Synchrony and paid if off a few weeks ago, then they sent me a bill for $2 !! and said it was acurring interest from the last payment (which was on time) until the next billing date in August ?? or something like that ! I just went ahead and paid the 2 bucks. My SUV is runnung fine now but I do have another cc to use if needed.

Whoa! That's just wrong.

If you still have anger adrenaline, consider going to your state's website and post a complaint with your state Attorney General ... I think that's who you complain to.

Also, the Better Business Bureau.

While you might not get an acknowledgement from them, every complaint counts, especially when they add up.

I have had my JC Penney card since I worked for them back in high school late '70's. They too are with Synchrorony Bank. Due to the bad things I hear about them I always over pay my charges and if I do not use the credit balance within a couple of months they send me a check for the extra funds.

I have trouble with Synchrony's online access to my individual store credit cards. I have 3: the QCard, JCPenney, and TJMaxx. I switched from paper to electronic statements to avoid the fees they started charging for getting bills in the mail. Always a struggle to get logged in to pay a bill. It eventually works, but it's very frustrating to deal with every single month.

I should probably just use my local bank credit card instead. I've never had an issue with it. There isn't much benefit for me to have a QCard. I don't use EasyPay, and I don't buy that much from them anymore. I would miss the discounts and rewards that come from using my JCP & TJmaxx cards though. That's how they suck you in and keep you as a customer. 😉

@wilma I have trouble logging in too. I have to log in through my Lowe's CC account. It's been that way from day 1 of my setting up my Synchrony card login. I was never able to log back in, but if I log into my Lowe's account, I see all my cards with Synchrony. I have Lowes, and Belk, and the Synchrony card which was sent to me becuase I used to have an EBay card. The only card I'll use now is the Belk card because sometimes they have discounts for using the card. I wait a few days and pay it off after it posts and then I avoid that $2 statement fee.

The login issue is one reason I won't do electronic statements. I know it's a privacy issue, but if they would send me my statement in my E-mail, I'd just print it off and have my own paper statement. But, I hate the idea of having to log in 2X/month, once to get my statement, and again to pay my bill. And I'm certainly not going to allow them to automatically take it from my checking account.

See an earlier and lengthy post about Synchrony Bank. They actually held my check and processed it when it would incur late fees. Sent all my documentation to the CEO of Talbot's and finally got all fees dismissed and my credit restored. This went over 8 months with SB AFTER I had paid the $100 bill.

I don't know if the QVC CEO would be so accommodating though given their present situation.
