Back in da day, the Philadelphia Eagles would have an eagle fly around the stadium prior to every game.

Years ago DH and I were having brunch at a restaurant on the river. All of the sudden everyone started rushing to the windows, which overlooked the river. An adult was flying right down the middle in a straight line. We all just stood there, transfixed, until the eagle was out of sight. It was an incredible experience, and none of us had cameras.

I recently had a juvenile Red-Tailed hawk visit my yard. Even though they are quite common, I rarely see them in/around the yard, only in the sky. I think that may be due to all the trees. I think they like to hunt in open spaces.

Anyways, he came flying through the next day as I was again working in the yard, but my husband's car sitting in a different place in the driveway apparently surprised him and he had to make a hard left turn. Seeing those wings spread out for the turn was quite impressive.

We actually have some of these magnificent birds nesting in my suburban neighborhood. A few years ago I was in a second floor schoolroom volunteering as an after school tutor. I glanced out of the window and there was an adult eagle on a tree branch just a few yards away. All lessons stopped and we gathered around that window watching him in awe. Those 8 year olds were the quietest I'd ever seen them. Somehow it feels like such a privilege just to see one of these wonderful birds.

Back in March we had a large numbers of Bald Eagles fishing at the Lake. They stayed for weeks but sadly they have moved on now. I went out there every day and took pictures of them. They really are magnificent and it's amazing to watch the precision with which they catch fish! Here's one of them.

When I worked at the Tribal School they would have Eagles brought in from the Eagle Sanctuary in Red Wing, Mn. for the students to observe and learn about. I loved to watch their eyes move, watching every move. "Eagle Eye" The Eagle is important to American Indians. Many expressions and always a good sign mentioned to see one. The School mascot was the Eagle. It is one of the Clans that are the considered leaders for the Woodland Indians.

We see alot of them and thankfully populations are increasing. They are often on the side of the road eating road kill and dominant amoung other birds there. The adults are majestic. One injured Eagle was recently released in my community and pictured in the paper. We have a retired Veterinarian who assists injured birds.

@RescueLover who posts frequently here loves Eagles and will enjoy the picture. To think our Forefathers were to deciding between the Wild Turkey and the Eagle for the National Bird??

No matter how many times I see them I always feel a sense of awe when I'm in their presence. Hard to believe it was a toss up between a Turkey and an Eagle! I have nothing against turkeys but I think they made the right choice!

Indeed. Eagles of any variety are magnificent. Bald Eagles are stunning. Raptors are intensely gorgeous in their faces.

This season will have to catch the game at the very beginning right before the players leave their locker rooms.

The seem to do it before the TV coverage starts. Too bad, best part of the game.
