We last moved seven years ago. We have provided lunch and tips of $20 per mover ...HTH!

I have never had a moving company…wow, is that weird?

If I moved now, I sure would, but I was too poor (or cheap?) in years past to pay someone!

If I recall from several years ago I think $20.00 per guy is what we gave but I think we gave the crew chief more.

We moved this weekend. First time we hired movers. We tipped $20 per mover. They worked so hard. It was 30 below

The last time we used movers we tipped them. Then discovered reasons we shouldn't have. Damaged furniture, opening and helping themselves to a box of candy (it was just after Valentine's day).

It would be interesting to hear if others have had a similar experience...tipped and then regretted it.

We had great movers and we tipped them 20 percent of the total. The foreman divided it up among all three of the movers. They really worked hard as they had a lot of steps to climb with some very heavy furniture.

esmerelda ~ We bought lunch and tipped the movers. Our stuff was moved from Chicago to California. After two weeks in transit we discovered 2 cases of missing wine (expensive stuff). There was no proof of them being missing as they were never tagged/numbered. We suspected that a couple of the movers had taken them straight from the basement without being tagged..couldn't prove it...se la vie.

We found our movers from Angie's List. There were a lot of reviews and this particular moving company had an A rating.

I'd tip 20.00 per person.

We recently had granite installed in kitchen and two baths, I tipped 20.00 per person.

IF it were our entire household, on second thought, I think I'd tip 50.00 per person IF I was really pleased with their services.

I've moved 3 times for work. While work paid for it, I still had to put it on my taxes. It was ridiculously expensive. I ordered pizzas and soda for lunch. My last move was eight years ago. It never occurred to me to also give a tip.

Hubby was a long distance mover for 38 years. He got all kinds of tips from lunch to money. The bigwigs from Anheuser Busch would give him Sea World tickets for the family often. They were a big commercial account. We lived two hours from San Diego so that was nice. Another tip was tickets to Elvis in Las Vegas.

My parents always tipped our movers and provided them with lunch, sodas, items we didn't need or want to ship and a tip.

Being military our moves were paid for by the government but we were treated well and our stuff always arrived intact and was never stolen. They work really hard.I've done the same for all of our transfers. Bless those guys !

I never have nor know anyone who has. $2500 plus for a move IN county PLUS meals? That's PLENTY, sorry. OH, and I unpack myself because that's extra.

Tipping is WAY out of control.

yes, i tip movers and/or the furniture or appliance delivery men. it depends how long they are here. usually anywhere from 5-20 dollars each. i also provide bottled waters or canned drinks.

When we last moved 20 years ago the company paid for it and I remember being surprised at how expensive it was. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000. and if we had to pay out of pocket we would have found a much less expensive way to move (like doing a lot of the packing ourselves).

I really don't remember if we tipped at all! It seems like some people tip for just about everything now.

Haven't moved in 26 years lol..

I did have a washing machine delivered a few weeks ago. I gave the guys $20 for lunch.

Only tipping that I wasn't sure about and didn't think about until after the fact was swimming pool installers.

I wasn't home when they did it, but my son came and supervised and after he called me with the check info..I thought about the fact that we should of maybe tipped the guys. He said he didn't think of it either.

Moot point now as it was after the fact.
