According to to industry insiders the voting period was already closed so No. However his arrogance is off putting to a lot of people. While the talent is there he is relatively new and needs to be patient as he will get his flowers. On a personal note I find him a good character actor but a leading man is gaslighting us.

Chalamet reminds me of Sean Penn. They both are quirky and sometimes quite outspoken. Sean Penn didn't win his first Academy Award until he was in his forties. I believe that Chalamet will also win an Oscar but not anytime soon.

No. Although I have become more cynical through the years, and I do believe sometimes actors are rewarded for their popularity or their whole body of work (Jamie Lee Curtis for Everything Everywhere All at Once - which I saw), I believe the award went to an actor who deserved it.

And I was clapping like crazy!

Unsure that the voting had ended as some heard .I heard otherwise on the news that the final votes were still coming in.

Agree, he reminds me of Sean Penn .

Timothy Chalamet is a very talented actor who should have received an Oscar for his past movie performances . He is extremely versatile.

Some day he will receive an Oscar

No. Being a Chalamet fan I predicted he wouldn't win well before the comments were made which, as noted, supposedly came after the ballots were in. I've read several analyses of Oscar voting over the years and read several more about this particular year. The seeming fact is that like just about any time one is voting for anything subjective, actual 'performance' is but one factor. Likability, 'politics' and sentimentality are just a few others, and it appears as though Tim annoyed enough voters with his vociferous efforts to nab the Oscar this year, (having been nominated twice before but not having won), that they opted for someone older and perhaps more likable. This isn't the first time a nominee has been relentless in waging an Oscar campaign, thus costing themselves the win.

His first nomination was at the age of 21 and had he not been up against several more established Hollywood stars and nominated for a vehicle that was controversial he might well have won, as his performance was generally acknowledged as being top drawer.

As for 'leading man' status, take a look. He already is. He's not of the matinee idol ilk but leading roles are more diverse these days than in the past and just as one probably wouldn't cast him in a Clark Gable role, one wouldn't cast Gable in the roles Chalamet has played.

Anyone doubting his skills need only take a look at his resume, which is impressive, especially for a 30 year old in a tough business.

I have zero interest in celebrities, Hollywood, or the film industry in general. What they say, wear, do or think is of no value to me. 99.9% of them espouse views that are polar opposite to mine. They also

love to publicly denigrate our country while shamelessly and happily cashing in.

As for whether the actor mentioned by the OP was snubbed for his opinion, I have no idea.

The only thing I have seen him in is the interview with Matthew and it was only a snippet. Never seen his acting just photos of him hanging all over the Kardashian. Once he grows up, gets a filter and some humility he will probably do well according to all the people who see his movies and thinks he is a fine actor. But no I do not think it had a thing to do with it, this year.

Mr. Chalamet's comments were made at a Variety/CNN public appearance on February 24th.

It no doubt took a few days for the program to be released and become viral for those who were not in attendance. In fact, the video clip likely garnered no serious internet traction until March 5th or March 6th.

Academy voting closed at 5 pm PST on March 5th.

I'm comfortable believing that most votes were cast prior to the controversy, although this is just my assessment.

I don't believe for a Hollywood Heartbeat that his comments altered enough votes to shift the outcome.

No. I do not watch the Oscars so I had to find his comment.

He is right in terms of financial problems, decline in attendance especially in the past 2 years across some of the more dedicated facilities including in Australia.

It's really much ado about nothing. Why he would have lost is a nothing question since he made his comment after the awards. You cannot make an in formed supposed scenario backwards.

I'm sure votes were cast weeks before the awards.

No. I think he is an excellent actor and he is definitely paying his dues. Of all his films, Call Me By Your Name would be my vote for an Oscar win. But he was up against Churchhill, so you know who wins that contest. Timothee will get his.

While he's waiting, he looks like he's having the time of his life.
