Fire in midtown high rise office building, East 43rd just off Fifth.

This is near the starting point of today's parade route.

The cause is reportedly stored diesel fuel for a backup generator.

The NYFD successfully put out the fire!

The building was not currently occupied and there were a few minor injuries sustained by essential workers said to be smoke related.

Fortunately not serious, but frightening for New Yorkers of what can occur in a high rise situation.

It's a former office building sold due to post-pandemic very low occupancy being converted to residential apartment units. Construction is just underway and workers on site safely evacuated.

What a great location to live, just steps from Grand Central!

I was going to ask if any NYers are watching the parade on TV today, The sky is so blues, but the wind is really making things interesting. I hope no casualties from the fire or the smoke?

I am not exactly sure which building this is but I think I might have worked in it for a short time at one point in my career
