I don't have a single one. My electricity has gone off two hours in the 25 years I've lived here so it's not a problem. I rarely use a cell phone.

for those of you who dont live in areas prone to power outages, you are lucky! i remember one winter where our electric was out for 7 days! no heat, but thank goodness for lots of blankets and a gas water heater so that we could take hot showers!

I have a TracFone I only use in the car in case I have a flat or dead battery. I've only had to use it twice in 25 years. I charge the phone once a week.

I've lived in my house 40 years and the only time my power has gone out was when the electric company swapped out a transformer and they give you plenty of notice or someone doing construction (usually the city) accidentally cuts a power line. Our power lines are underground so no poles to go down.

I DO use a cell phone. A lot.

I’ve travelled a fair amount and pack several with me.

Our power does go off. We even had to evacuate last year for a wildfire. I have 2 in my emergency bags.

@sunshine45 In 2/10 without power for 4 days after huge snow and frigid temps. Lucky to use gas fireplace, gas cooktop and gas water heater. My electric goes out fairly often. I have a handful of wireless chargers and several power banks.

And I haven't had a landline for about six years.

I was actually being a little sarcastic....it seems over the fall/winter some sort of power generator, large, small and in between has been on for hours everyday. It would seem each home in America has at least three by now..😏. And yes, I know I can change the channel. Just an observation...

If you have kids, you have the phone and device chargers. A lot of them. Road trips, in btwn dance rehearsals , games, or activities they are necessary.

If you mean the portable (generator) type, its totally a personal choice.

I'm in New England and we have power outages during the winter months that can go on for days or weeks, after bad snow or ice storms.

The longest we were without power was nearly two weeks; others went three weeks. We've always had a portable generator; has to be filled with gas, run for several hours and switched off. Rinse and repeat. And doing this outside, in frigid temperatures?

Without that, no water, no heat, no nothing (rural area). Frozen pipes and the house temperature plummeting is not fun.

This summer we finally had a standalone Kohler, all-house generator installed and it's the best decision we've made in years.

@dodies - Sarcasm aside: how many portable chargers does each family need? However many they decide they need. Count yourself lucky, if you never or seldom lose power.
