LATE AFTERNOON IN ITALY

I discoverd "Mambo Italiano" an X account devoted to the beauty of Italy.

"Mambo" captioned this picture: Two cats inside a medieval cathedral from the year 1000 ( !) "enjoying the faint December sunlight at sunset".

Eternal Italy! Those two kitties look contented in the late-day sun, like little loaves of bread. In the distance, through the massive stone doorway, a nativity scene is just visible...

@monicakm , same! Went to Italy once, as a teenager with my parents, and it was my favorite of the European countries we visited.

Looking at this for a while, I can almost imagine I'm there! I'll bet the resident kitties keep the mouse population in check; they look pretty well fed!

Years ago we went to Rome. As I recall, it was overrun with cats. I think it was against the law to "fix" cats. Not a good policy.

My husband and I vacationed in Italy (over 25 years ago) and loved it there. He loves ruins, as I know you do too.

We were visiting a park, and I crouched down to say hello to a kitty who then proceeded to climb onto my lap and lie down. Another part of the trip, while we were in Venice, the waters were rising above ground and flooding Venice. My husband was out walking around (I stayed back at the hotel as we didn't have boots to wade in the water, but lack of boots didn't deter him), and he saw a cat stranded on the outside of a window sill with nowhere to go since water was below. So my husband and another happy barefoot tourist from another country (who he didn't know, and they didn't speak the same language), rescued the cat together and placed the kitty on dry ground where it was free to go.

Those are wonderful "cat stories abroad", @QVCisFun ! Kitties bring out our love and fascination wherever they are, and good for your husband for providing rescue!
