Maybe I missed it but does the Q still sell Honey Bells? This is usually the time of year for them. My grocery store has been selling Sumo oranges which are kind of like Honey Bells and they are so good.

Thank you for any information.

I dont think so. Their supplier Cushman's procurement of fruit comes from groves in Florida. A disease called Citrus Greening and people selling their land has caused production of citrus fruit to be the lowest in over a hundred years.

Just checked Harry and David and they are offering Cushman's Honeybells available to ship in January.

There is also another brand, Western Honeybells that's offered.

While I've never ordered Honeybells from them, I've ordered from Harry and David several times. Highly recommend.

Yes, The Q usually does sell Honeybells, but availability can vary year to year and they tend to be seasonal (typically late winter). Some locations get limited quantities or sell out quickly. If you’re seeing Sumos instead, it may just be what they were able to source this season. It’s worth asking the produce manager or keeping an eye on the weekly ad to see if Honeybells show up.

per a news item last week, our Florida citrus industry is rebounding. Plentiful crops expected this season.

Florida growers report a comeback, with groves full of oranges and grapefruits after decades of disease and declining production.

Protective screen technology (CUPS) and resistant citrus varieties are key to revitalizing harvests.

Legislative support and innovative farming practices are helping ensure long-term industry growth.

I only purhased them once. I think from Cushman. This was before the poor supply. The taste was spotty. In one bag, they were very sweet, but then you ate another and it was so so. A few were almost bad. That we the only disappointment. Since then, I've not purchased them.
