I went to Sam's Club on Thursday before noon. I never saw it so crowded.

It surprised me because Sam's has that service where Sam's employees shop from your list and deliver it to your car. There are about 15 car spaces for pick-up and many of the spaces were filled with people getting their orders. And the store was crowded too.

But that is what is so nice about Sam's. Check out is so fast and easy. Tons of self check out lines and tons of Sam's employees checking you out. And then you just walk out. No more checks.

Guess Sam's has it figured out how to keep people moving and want to invite more people to join.

Sam's Club does deals every year, but I have seen their $5 and $8 a year deal which is better than the $20 membership.The lower priced deal is for first time joiners only.

If you let your membership expire, you will be eligible again for the first year rate after a whole year has passed without membership.

We have been Costco members consistently for decades. We were Sam's members at the same time, in the beginning, then decided to let the Sam’s membership lapse and we just stuck with Costco, This past summer I was able to get a basic Sam's membership for $20. I still have to option to pay the difference to get the upgraded membership but haven't yet. I probably should. So we're back to shopping at both places. Each has their pros and cons.

One thing I really like about Sam's is "scan & go". I can scan my items with my Sam's phone app as I add them to my cart. One final check when I'm done. Slide something on my phone to pay, walk out. The door checker always has me confirmed before I get to him. I never wait in any kind of line.

We are members at both Sam's and Costco. And I prefer Sam's Club. Sam's it seems like you never stop moving and you are out the door.

Costco many times there are two employees checking out . And the self checkout has 6 registers. BUT you can't get past people checking out and their carts to get past them. So often there are only 3 self checkout registers being used.

The lines to check out, block isles all the way to the back of the store. It takes what seems like forever to check out. Then the line at the exit is backed up to the registers. So you finally check out but then wait in line again.

And I am shocked at the prices. I bought chips at Sam's. The same exact bag of chips at Costco was $1.50 more.

More and more Costco is an easy pass.

I love Sam's Club. All of their deserts and vanilla ice cream and produce are the best. And the check out is so easy.

I do love Sam's club too. I get many things delivered by Sam's. They had deals on L'Occitane this past year. I have some nice hand and body cream that I bought. I believe they still have a few things on-line.

I also shop at Costco and love that too. I am in Costco more than Sam's because I drive right by Costco 2 X a day going to and from work.

I do love the Sam's checkout. The Sam's stores have been clean and nicely set-up. Not as chaotic at the check-out as Costco is.

I also would pass Costco when I drove to and from work. But it was so frustrating when I would stop after work. Many and I mean many of the parking spaces would have a shopping cart sitting in the parking spot. You had to drive around looking for an empty spot or stop and move the cart.

I bet in the 20 years we have been Costco members I have seen someone collecting carts 5 times. At Sam's there are always 2 guys moving carts back to the store. And also they have helped me put items in my car. They would just see me and offer to help.

Never been to Sam’s Club.

Been in a Costco twice with a friend.
