I wouldn't know if they are around here unless they were stealing from me. I've been getting a lot of packages and so far so good, but I'm able to try to make sure I'm home when I'm expecting something.

Porch pirates are not an issue in our townhouse complex, thankfully.

Has anyone else seen those YouTube clips where the "package" explodes and the "Pirate" is covered in colored dye - Like the dye packs they use at Banks?

We have never had a problem with porch pirates.

And what sticks in my head was an incident during the summer. Our neighbor across the street, went on vacation. While they were away several large packages were delivered. The packages sat by their front door for 4 - 5 days.

I wanted to take the packages and give them to our neighbor when they returned. My husband said to leave them alone. The neighbor had several family members living in the area. And maybe they were going to pick up the packages and I might cause problems if the packages were no longer there.

The packages were rather large so they were clearly visible from the street, if someone was looking to grab them.

Surprisingly, yes, a few. I am in an apartment building and my floor has had two package thefts that I know of. A confused resident could be the culprit.

If I notice a package left on a neighbor's doorstep for long, I will leave a note and take package into my place for safekeeping.

Not by us. We have a camera that's focused on our front walkway and DH gets an alert whenever someone comes to the door.

Have you seen the videos where the homeowner leaves a boobytrapped package on the porch and it explodes paint all over the thief? It serves them right.

That's maybe the only good thing about living in the woods..no porch pirates too far from the main road.. Did have an animal try to get in a box..Don't think it was a racoon there was no booze in the box..LOL

No problem in our semi-rural area.Most people have cameras, but we don't. I tell my neighbor if I'm expecting a package while we are gone for a few days.

You bet they are. Philly has as many cockroaches as it has thieves. Last spring I launched myself right onto a guy in the midst of trying to walk off with my delivery. My husband had to intervene JUST SO HE COULD LIVE TO SEE ANOTHER DAY! I guess I took it too far. Fortunately the pirate and I were no worse for the wear.

Our 'driveway' is a thousand feet long and actually a single lane, curvy gravel roadway. . . no one comes down here to check for a package on our porch.

Unfortunately, my community has a problem with porch pirates. Even our Police Commissioner was a victim of this type of crime.

Not that I'm aware of. I try to be home for all deliveries, but also have 4 cameras on the front of my house.

I had a package on my porch ripped open last year, but they obviously didn't want what was inside as my order was still in the torn box on my porch.

There are several of us on our street that get things delivered all year. If I'm home and sitting in the front room, I sometimes see strange cars slowly going up and down the street. Sorry to say, I don't think they're lost or turning around. I think they're porch pirates hunting for packages.

My community has a problem, although I havent had one. The big problem seems to be delivery services leaving packages at either the wrong house or put in the wrong locker at one of the many cluster type of mailboxes. The usps seems to make an especially large number of mistakes. It seems as though misdelivered packages rarely show up.
