Are you a creative sort of person?

What do you create? Since I'm into crochet now, I have all sorts of ideas, color combinations etc. come to mind. Then I jot them down. Decided I need to put them in one area, in a book possibly, instead of all these scraps of paper. LOL

How do you keep all your ideas together?

If you are a creator, where do you create? Where do you keep all supplies?

I am not a creative person - I wish! My mother crocheted all the time! She made the most beautiful things! She could do just about anything craft-wise. Sadly, I did not inherit this gene. What crohect project are you currently doing!

They sell crafting journals and organizers at the craft store that is not Michael's.

Depending on the day, they could be in the sewing notions section, the yarn section or the cross stitch section.

All my supplies are in my sewing macine cabinet and a 5 drawer tall dresser.

Sort of. I am better at "manual" stuff....pottery, landscaping, detailing, dressmaking, etc. I suppose you could call it CRAFT more than ART...

I can reproduce ANY food item that I have EATEN in a restaurant without having a recipe...

Well sort of...years ago I did my fair share of quilting and sewing, and cross stitch. I used to sew my clothes, probably 30+ years ago when fabric was not so expensive.

I use my computer at our business for personal use when I have time...I make tags, note cards, etc for personal use.

My mom was a wonder knitter and also did crochet, she tried to teach me but I just could not do it.

I have always had a need to make stuff. Even when I was a little girl I enjoyed crafts.

I went through several phases of things that I have made. At one point I was making cigar box purses. I even sold some and they were fun to make, getting the cigar boxes from some local shops along with fabrics and various embellishments.

I have also been into scrapbooking along with card making. That was about 15-20 years ago. I was very much into it and here on the Q message board we had a thriving craft board (before the Q changed up the forum). We even exchanged supplies and made cards for each other, etc., with other crafters here on the forum. It was a lot of fun!

Scrabooking morphed into sign making. I had a thriving Etsy business making custom signs. I started out in 2008 making wedding signs but then I switched it to custom vacation house signs ....lake, beach, ski, etc.. I did that up to the pandemic. One thing led to another and I retired my Etsy shop in 2021. By the time I had closed it I had made and sold over three thousand custom signs. It was a good run.

Now I work on fiber arts. I have been taking a wet felting techniques class once a week for three hours. I started this class during the pandemic since I was afraid of another very long boring winter being stuck indoors. Loved the class so much that this January will be my fifth year taking it!

As for studio space, I have a large corner in my basement dedicated to my various crafts and supplies. I also have an old large kitchen table that I use as my work surface with shelving surrounding it. I have a lot of shelving along with various rolling carts with lots of drawers for storing items. I keep wool roving for my felting projects in color coordinated clear plastic boxes.

I think keeping your ideas in a book or binder is great!

Currently, @AngelPuppy1 In this room, 2 scarves for winter. I have 4 WIPS (works in progress) going on. I love yarn and the colors.

I have never been into sewing, but when I was younger my grandmother taught me how to embroider and I used to enjoy that up into my twenties.

Now that I'm much much older, I thought about getting back into it with kits, etc. but instead I got myself an adult coloring book and a set of colored markers. I find this extremely enjoyable. Every page is a new picture, and new colors to choose and detail, etc...I spend at least an hour + on my coloring everyday. It's relaxing and gets my mind off things.

Very creative I used to knit and crochet and sew I even made a rug once, Arthritis in my hands has disabled my doing a lot of what I used to love to do.

Remember when cigar boxes were prevalent? I remember kids in my classes during elementary school using cigar boxes for crayons and pencils.

I will be that those purses were so creative and different!

We have a large room downstairs that had a couch, chair & TV when the kids were home.

Now I have taken it over.

I have totes with my fabric/interfacing on the end of the (unused) fireplace bricks.

A sideboard has my heat press, sublimation printer, regular printer, with supplies in the drawers & cardstock in the end section.

Under the sideboard are jewelry making supplies-all color coordinated/style coordinated, in boxes.

A rolling cart next to that holds photo papers, shipping labels, acrylic paints & brushes.

My computer is next. I can do nothing without my computer & files of patterns, embroidery design, svgs for Cricut, jewelry making ideas.

On top of the computer cabinet are plastic drawers with resin supplies, glues, heat gun, dremel....

In front of the sideboard I have 2 tables (On magic sliders.). One is a large heavy library table with an ironing station on one end & room to assemble projects on the other end.

The other table holds my sewing/embroidery machine.

The next wall has my sewing table with my straight stitch sewing machine, threads, bobbins, needles, supplies for sewing.

Then a shelf with books, binders, a ribbon organizer, canvases for grandson's paintings.

Then I have a cart with my Cricut & Cricut tools.

I have a cutting table for fabric with a large cutting mat & an organizer on the back holds scissors, rotary cutters, rulers, fabric markers, etc. A

Above the cutting table, running all along that wall, my husband put up a shelf with ribbon tray that hangs below it. It is plastc gutter.

The 2 shelves hold elastics, bias tapes, etc.

Under the cutting table are crates with more cardstock, wire for jewelry making, shadow boxes/picture frames. There is a skirt around the table to hide it all.

I have a wardrobe with shelves & drawers that hold iron on & adhesive vinyls. All divided into types & then colors & in plastic envelops that I can pull out the type/color that I want. The drawers hold extra rolls & transfer tape.

On top of that I have rolls of faux leather (Vinyl) for sewing & my Cricut markers in a case.

In the garage I have 2 tall narrow cabinets (A neighbor set them out with a free sign.) with plastic totes with more fabric & faux leather.

In the living room I have yarns & crochet hooks. Some is hidden. Some smaller balls are in large jars for decoration.

I think that about covers it.

@Dusty1 Sounds like a great space you have!

When I make my signs on Etsy I used my computer for creating layouts & showing customers how their custom sign would look depending on the fonts & designs used.

I had a Silhouette die cutter connected to my computer but I had originally started with a Cricut. At the time I had a lot of Cricut cartridges.

I have been thinking of upgrading to a new Silhouette or Cricut connected to my computer for making designs on my felted pieces.....anyway it's just a thought for now.

I used to be. Learned to sew when I was 8 from my mom. Then liked doing crafts---all sorts, but after treatment for cancer in 2012, my fingers don't work well ,so its hard to do much. DD and I have been putting together various Lego sets these past couple years and that is fun--but my monkey fingers don't co operate sometimes.And we just don't have room to spread out anymore--living in a small apt.

Both grandmas and my mom were good at teaching me. In the end I came to favor needlepoint.

I did get up to 24 bobbins with lace making before my mind exploded. That was just beyond me.

I am always amazed how many people can not tell the difference between tatting and crochet. That is sad.
