Amazon Struggling

They seem to be having problems with moving merchandise, probably due to airport situation.

I place one of those "deliver next day 4am to 8am" orders on Tuesday. They keep advancing the travel/delivery time. It's 6:50 pm Thursday but I haven't seen it yet.

It wasn't crucial, I can wait.

When I saw your thread title, I was hoping it didn't mean a UPS earnings report indicated problems.

With all the stuff people buy on the internet, I can't imagine it could be true, but you never know.

I always thought the 99 Cents Stores and Bed, Bath & Beyond would be around forever, too.

Glad if it's just the weather causing delivery issues.

@Kachina624 There was a UPS Cargo major plane wreck in Kentucky 6 days ago, 14 people were killed.

Federal authorities are prohibiting all operators of McDonnell Douglas MD-11 planes from flying the aircraft until they are inspected after a UPS cargo plane crashed into a ball of flames shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky earlier this week.

The directive prohibits flight until the aircraft are inspected and any fixes are made.

Earlier, the plane's maker, Boeing, recommended that the three operators of MD-11 aircrafts ground the planes.

"This recommendation was made in an abundance of caution and we will continue coordinating with the FAA on this matter," Boeing said in a statement.

There are about 70 MD-11s in service operated by UPS, FedEx and Western Global, according to Boeing.

Here's another indication something is amiss. I checked 10-15 garments and about the same number of handbags today. On all except 2 or 3 in each category, I got this result.

They laid off thousands of people recently, including apparently, the people who remove sold out listing's. I wasted a lot of time. Got very frustrated.

Cute but I wasn't looking for a pup.

I had a former colleague that was sitting at the airport when the crash happened. She said it was just awful. I have seen some near misses but never an actual crash.

My heart aches for the families involved. That must be so hard for them with the holidays approaching.

None of my packages have been impacted yet.

I doubt there's a soul in America that doesn't know about that crash, however, I doubt that had anything to do with my little package. Those huge planes were used for long hauls, overseas and such.

I've never received anything from Amazon next day or even within 2 days. They do, at least, indicate that on the checkout page. The fastest I ever received anything from Amazon was way back when they were simply a book store.

My Amazon are traditionally delayed, delayed, and delayed again. It's been nothing new to me. I never get next day and I'm lucky if I get three day delivery.

The amount of times they push the deliveries back three to four time a day is a joke. And I know when they do that I'll be lucky to get it by the next evening.

@Kachina624 - We were just talking about this yesterday morning. One of my coworkers said he ordered something recently in the morning and it was delivered that evening.

Most everyone said it's not even worth buying anywhere else. Of course most were men.

Thanks for that info. I purchase very carefully from Amazon.

Not Amazon related, but one of the issues we've had with our rural mail delivery lately is that, only on Monday, our mail often doesn't get delivered until 6:30 or 7pm. My spidey sense tell me that the mail carriers are are celebrating a little too much football on Sundays.

I was on a plane that caught on fire and had to make an emergency landing. It was scary as all get out. I traveled for work at the time and was almost a basket case flying after that.

A lot with Amazon depends on where the things are warehoused. I find bigger furniture items (tables, chairs, etc.) tend to come from Arizona, so they take a while to get here to South Jersey. Smaller stuff tends to be warehoused closer to me (there are like four or five Amazon warehouses wthin an hour of me here.) I get some things the same day I order them. Most things come the next day or so. I placed an order yesterday that could have been delivered today, but they were giving me $1.50 in digital credit if I let them wait until Monday, so that's another $1.50 for Kindle books.

Amazon is till on the gravy train. However they might cut some jobs as they want to remain lean and hungry. Wouldn't QVC would like to have some of those stats.

They have been having problems for a long time now. We have items on Auto Delivery every 2 weeks. Lucky if we get them in 3 -4 weeks.

A couple months ago ordered and item that was to be delivered in 3 days and instead it took 5 weeks ! 😩

When I called customer service 3 different times they offered to refund our money each time.

I said No thank you, we want the item. Finally the 3rd rep got it RUSHED and it was delivered 2 days later !

That is frustrating, especially if you need something fast. Yesterday I ordered Lidocaine patched and was hoping for the option to receive it early in the AM. Nope, they haven't offered that option in my area for awhile. They'll probably show up after dinner.

Amazon ships out so many packages per day and with airport delays it's no surprise to me this is happening. Hopefully it will get better in the next week or so.
