Want a real "Tear Jerker" movie?

Last night on the INSP channel there was a Richard Gere movie called "Hachi-a Dogs Tale".

I cried my eyes out at the end! Get the Kleenex!

I haven't seen it, but I know what it's about. I won't spoil it for anyone, but you are right, you'll need to have a box of tissues when you see it.

Another movie that made me cry is "8 Below", about sled dogs.

I came across the end of it a couple of weeks ago, (again, I won't spoil it), and at a certain scene, the tears started to flow.

Yes, Hachi is a good story. Did you know it's based on a true story, about a dog in Japan?

My Dog Skip is another one that does it for me.

Non animal related movies....Steel Magnolias gets me every time.

I saw Hachi a few years ago and literally sobbed. Used lots of tissues but I did love the movie. I would recommend it.

I just went to IMDB and looked up the movie plot. It sounds so lovely -- and a real tear jerker. I teared up just reading the description and imagining the movie.

Oh my gosh, Yes....It is definitely one of the most touching and heartwrenching movies about the loyalty and deep, unconditional love and bond between animal and man....done beautifully!....This true story has touched the hearts of many!

Some interesting info....The movie was filmed in Rhode Island and a couple of years ago, a memorial statue of Hachi, which replicates the same as in Japan, was erected at the train station in Rhode Island.

Oh my goodness, Kookielady. When I saw the thread title, I thought "I don't know what movie she means but my vote is for Hachi: A Dog's Story." I love that movie but it absolutely is a tear-jerker. I gave it my highest rating - four hankies.

oh yes. I saw it a couple of years ago. It was a good thing I was alone because I sobbed right out loud.

8 Below was another one that did it to me too. Also Marley and Me. Heck, I sobbed at Turner and Hooch!

I saw Old Yeller as a child and I have never been able to watch it again. I've been a dog lover since I was a small child. I think Old Yeller traumatized me!

When I saw the title of the thread I just knew it was Hachi. That is the saddest movie. I have seen it once and just can't bring myself to watch it again. I have a rescue dog who is extremely loyal. She used to sleep in my flowerbed and wait for me to come home before I adopted her.

Years ago, when MARLEY came out, my niece and her husband took their kids to see it on Christmas Day. She called me later a bit upset, asking why I hadn't told her Marley died. I told her that everyone knew Marley died. She said, "Well, not us!" She said the kids started crying, scared their dogs were going to die, then she started crying. She said even as her husband was trying to comfort the kids, he teared up -- I had to laugh, thinking about her whole family crying. My baby is right here at my feet, l love him so. I always feel so bad when posters lose a pet. I disagree with several here but people who love their pets are really the best. PS, my niece and her family have not seen HACHI but the kids are older and would no doubt appreciate it.

That movie is wonderful. I own it and watched it many times and cry every time (even though I know the outcome). That movie is based on the dog in Japan and the statue is there. AND to add, I LOVE Richard Gere. He is my favorite actor...ever!

My dad made me watch that movie, and I wanted to thump him on the head afterwards. It was bad enough watching Riddick when they killed off the CGI-created "dog."

While I cried buckets at the end of Message In A Bottle, I know better than to watch Marley & Me or Nights In Rodanthe.
