HSN Needs To Do Better

So I bought the Nakery Beauty TS which was represented as having triple retinol. On 7/14 I got an email stating the error in the presentation, it was double retinol not triple. It didn't matter to me so I kept it. Now today I received an email about the Keranique TS I bought recently. They failed to mention in the presentations that you should consult your doctor before you use it, don't use if pregnant, and if there is no history of hair loss in your family don't use it. I would not have ordered if I knew this, I'm returning it (HSN is paying for the return). These two instances have made me think twice now about HSN, this shouldn't happen, they need to research the products they are presenting, it's their reputation on the line.

I rarely use any cosmetics with chemicals.

Also, before administering any medicine for either my family and/or pets, I thoroughly research all the medical advisements, including warnings, complications, effectiveness, history, etc.

I would never trust a shopping channel to have any kind of medical expertise, or know my unique health situation, and share how chemicals and drugs could interact.

The Mayo Clinic website is a very good resource. I looked up minoxidil (the chemical in Keranique), and it states that no studies have been done to show effectiveness in patients over 65, and negative interactions can occur if other drugs are being used.

Research is all about doing due diligence as a consumer--HSN is just a pass-through company similar to Amazon. In other words, buyers should always beware.

I don't think the training was top notch in Florida. Now that they have Mary Beth training, I think presentations will be better. You are right to send it back. Any type of medical or health claim must be researched thoroughly.

@stellabystarlight I don't think the hosts are to blame, they can only talk on points they are given. The person representing the companies and HSN are responsible to know their products.

The double/triple retinol issue didn't bother me b/c in either case they never talked about the concentration of retinol at all. Concentration is everything when it comes to retinol.

As for the minoxidil, most hair loss is hereditary and any other kind of hair loss is considered to have a medical link such as alopecia areata or hormone dysfunction. In those cases minoxidil won't work but using it won't harm either. It would just be a waste of time and money so that needs to be determined by a doctor before wasting it.

So I planned to return the TS. There was no return label, I went online to print out a label, HSN is supposed to pay for the return. I get to the post office and I am charged $12.30! I called HSN and told the CS rep I paid for the return, she tells me the label I used was if I returned the product, there is a prepaid label they would have sent me. Well it didn't say that in the email, she also said you could have called us when your were at the post office! Anyway she said she will refund me the money this time. This isn't my fault, she acted like she was doing me a favor. By the way the prepaid label was $7.99 for the return as compared to the $12.30 the post office charged..

I was a business major in college and took a class on selling. It was impressed upon me you need to know everything about the product your selling and be prepared to answer any questions that arise.

Less fawning, gasping and hyperbole and more factual information would be welcome on both networks...

HSN also needs a better website, as does QVC...

No worries, though, one might surmise HSN isn't going to be in the game a whole lot longer anyway...

HSN should state somewhere when returns are not pre-paid, I always check reviews first. the HSN Keranique reviewers state their products are return on your own. Sometimes w no reviews, you just get caught and hope CS can help.

In the past HSN has snail mailed return label. This happened with a tracfone purchase and HSN waived the fee. Another time it was a jewelry item, it was a return to vendor.

Quarte, or whatever they're calling themselves this month, really should have known. They can't even manage QVC effectively, much less bringing HSN into the West Chester fold and thinking they can manage both of them.

So I returned the Keranique TS on August 15, someone at HSN received it on August 18. Online it isn't showing up as returned nor have I been refunded my money to my credit card. I called HSN CS last night, I was told they did receive my return and she would have the funds released. I asked how long until it shows up on my credit card statement (Capital One), she said immediately. It hasn't shown up yet, I hope I don't have trouble trying to get my money back, I'm done with HSN.

I called HSN again yesterday since my return wasn't showing nor was my money refunded to my credit card. The CS rep said it was returning to a third party and they weren't notified of the return, which doesn't make sense since I tracked the package and HSN was in possession of the package on the 18th. I gave her the tracking number sure enough she saw it was returned. She then asked me if I wanted my refund to my credit card or spendable cash. No way do I want spendable cash!

my irritation with HSN, is on the jewelry shows, they never state if it's 14k gold, sterling silver,etc. It just seems to be a mystery metal. I trust nothing that comes out of the Belleza jewelry guys mouth.
