cause of death just released. It was suicide. Combination of antihistamines, amphetamines and alcohol. Heartbreaking

Shocking and sad! She always portrayed herself as so confident, secure in herself, successful, competitive ( and usually won) and knowledgeable- I wonder if was an accident?
So hard to understand how some people want death, and some people fear it 110 %...

My mother was recently hospitalized 3 months ago (88 yo), and had a very serious asthmatic/ COPD event. She was on super high levels of oxygen, struggling horribly to breathe, essentially machine breathing for her. The doctors thought she was on her death bed. As soon as I mentioned maybe it was time to go see Dad ( in heaven), her fear of death kicked in and she got better right away ! She was out of the hospital in a week, and has been totally fine for the last 3 months.

Do they have a suicide note from her ? Was she ill with a cold and self medicated ? You'd be sueprised what combinations of stuff people take when they have a lingering cold / cough

That makes me so sad, but for some reason I am not shocked...just very sad. I hope she is now at peace.

According to NYT she was found unconscious in the shower surrounded by approximately 100 assorted pills.

I am wondering if it had something to do with her marriage that triggered her actions ... perhaps her husband has asked for a divorce?

Since her death, I don't think I've seen even a brief statement from her husband ... just that she had a husband.

I find that a bit odd.

@Tinkrbl44 Anne's husband is the one who found her body. HIs name is Stuart Claxton.

Yes, he did make a brief statement last month after her death. I don't know if he has said anything since though.

None of us knew her personally. Many, many people walk thru this life with a smile on their face, but deeply depressed. They carry a darkness we can't possible understand unless we have been thru it. It's very sad for her family & friends. I hope she has found peace.

If you have ever had a severe head cold or sinus problem you can understand the drugs. Looking for comfort!

I doubt it was intentional. Don't understand why the pills in the shower!

But...one report says she was dead and one says she was unconscious! Great Media coverage!

I never ever thought she was suicidal. She always appeared upbeat. In fact, she is a host on the recent Worst Cooks In America show. It is odd seeing commercials with her laughing and having a good time.

No one knows the real person, only the TV personality. I am sorry to hear she took her life. So very sad. May she RIP.

This is what I read on USA Today for the cause of death.

Burrell's cause of death was acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine and amphetamine, the medical examiner determined.
