whew! Honestly, in all fairness he is a flight risk. Also, a danger to others, possibly. He now knows for sure he is facing possible jail time. Sadly, he isn't trust worthy.

I got a sinking feeling he will serve very little jail time. First time "on the books" offender, maybe 2 years with credit for time served or probation- at most - 5 years behind bars for both offenses. I hope I'm wrong.

@bmorechick From my many years of experience doing criminal defense work, the Judge will rely HEAVILY on the Presentence Report prepared by (in my state) the Presentence Division of the Probation Department. They will do an exhausive investigation of his life and the nature of the crimes HE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF (not the charges he was acquitted of by the jury). They interview a lot of people, gather records, and have a comprehensive scoring system (again, in my State) that correlates to his risk TO RECIDIVATE back into the system. The Probation team that does these Presentence investigations are very skilled AND SERIOUS professionals whom (from my years of experience) aren't "sweet-talked" by any of the parties they interview.

Of course, the defense also has the opportunity to submit AS MANY LETTERS OF SUPPORT on behalf of their client as possible. These letters are VERY IMPORTANT.

The Defense will presumably work with him to produce a written statement to the Court explaining circumstances in his life he wishes to discuss that may have led up to his criminal behavior, changes he plans to make and, IMPORTANTLY, that he REGRETS the crimes he has committed and TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY for commiting them.

The State (prosecutor) also makes a sentencing recommendation to the Court. The victims get a chance to speak about the impact the crimes he committed made on their lives.

In a case like this, there's likely not going to be a "dry eye in the Courtroom" after he is finally sentenced.

@pdlinda I hope you are right in that his celebrity status will not make him almost immune to any kind of jail time. Im sure his family will be giving statements and they will all be glowing and positive. His mama will cry that she's not got much life left at 84 and on and on...I cannot imagine Ms. Ventura or "Jane" coming back to give any statements or anyone else - mainly out of fear of retribution.

My daughter thinks he will be given probation or house arrest. Gonna be interesting.

In my experience, a pre-sentence investigation is only done if probation is on the table. I'm hoping this will not be the case for Diddy.

Pardon my cynicism, but I doubt it matters whether he gets a harsh sentence or merely a slap on the wrist.

If he gets any sentence, you can bet serious money he'll ask for a presidential pardon and be out in a snap.

It warms my heart that there are so many civil lawsuits pending. Large or small awards, this whole thing will nickel-and-dime him to death.

Again, the Judge may be inclined to sentence him one way but, after all the info provided at the sentencing, that inclination may change.

@isaboo In my state we have Intensive Probation. It would keep him on a very short leash. If, for any reason, he violated his terms and conditions of probation, he would likely be sent to prison for the longest possible time allowed by statute.
