Karen Read Verdict

Jury finds her not guilty of Second Degree Murder.

I know know how they could have decided otherwise with all the conflicting information. Convicted of only DWI.

I just hope she goes away and we don't have to hear more about it. Tired of hearing the story and evidence.

@Kachina624 Thanks for posting that. It's been big in the news in CT and MA for months and months now. I watched the 48 Hours program and I couldn't decide if she was guilty or not. There was sooo much controversy and conflicting information. It's been a long time coming.

I just read that the jury has gone back into deliberations???

I hope she doesn't get off. I think she's guilty of at least negligent homicide or manslaughter - whichever fits the evidence in the case. I think she was drunk, angry with him and did exactly what she said in that video: "I hit him! I hit him! I hit him!"

And she drove off in anger and left him there. As for the plow driver's testimony that he didn't see a body on the lawn? Please, I also plow. You're not looking at people's lawns. You're looking at the roadway and edges of the road for vehicles or other obstructions.

Saying he saw their doorway? That's not even remotely the same as saying he looked at the lawn...in a blizzard! And a body that may have been covered in snow by the time he says he went by? Clutching at straws.

Karen should move out of State. She will not be safe even if stoped for a traffic violation.

The D.A. will probably not be relected.

That situation was so tainted by the actions of the first trial officers that the focus was no longer the person who died due to the actions of another. Makes me sad to see this happen again.

Another murderer got away. She admitted she hit him, and I believe intentionally.

I have not followed this at all, and I could spend a lot of time doing research, but I'd rather get the short version here!

So - why did they have a second trial in the first place?

I did hear someone saying a dog attacked the officer, and of course I don't believe that. My simplistic view of this is no matter what happened, she left him in the cold.

What do you think? Was the jury right?

First trial was a hung jury.

Believe it. The body had dog bites. The dog has been in hiding since all this began. Cakers3 stated in another thread that the dog is in witness protection.

One thing I know for sure (in my mind) is that the Jury did take a lot of time in their deliberation.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm convinced she is guilty but too much doubt presented to prove otherwise.
Yes, go have a celebratory drink or 10 Karen and just go away.

@Venezia I brought up the snowplow driver on the other thread.

My point was Loughran made a credible witness. His testimony regarding the death of his wife as part of what was going on at the time especially with the issue of the blogger "Turtle boy" having no influence on him.

He was quite clear he was not influenced or threatened to testify on her behalf.

While you may be familiar with snowplowing you are not familiar with Loughran' route so unless you know the area and specifically what it looked like that night his testimony cannot be dismissed.

I respect your opinion but I do not reject his testimony either since his demeanor was clear .

I don't know what happened. But, why was parts of her brokem tail light around him in the snow and the drink he took from the last bar was also in the snow?
