Marlise Munoz

Life support was terminated at 11:29 a.m. Sunday, family members told News 8.

Heather King and Jessica Janicek, attorneys for Marlise's husband Erick Muñoz, issued a brief statement to confirm what happened:

"The Muñoz and Machado families will now proceed with the somber task of laying Marlise Muñoz’s body to rest, and grieving over the great loss that has been suffered. May Marlise Muñoz finally rest in peace, and her family find the strength to complete what has been an unbearably long and arduous journey."

The poor lady was dead in November. May she and her baby rest in peace and her family be able to put this nightmare behnd them.

They probably won't be able though. What a useless intervention by ideologues. So much extra suffering in what already was a terrible situation.

The right thing was finally done. Should have been done a long time ago.

i didn't see another thread. hopefully, this one will remain peaceful. her husband has a long road ahead in raising their son and also, those hospital bills.

If the hospital had any compassion, they should waive all the cost of treatment. JMO

Thank goodness, for all involved. This was such an awful situation that was made much much worse by the state and the hospital. I hope the families find peace.

From a financial standpoint - now they are responsible for all these months of hospital bills that must be more than most people could handle. It should not have happened this way. I cannot even imagine how they would pay hospital bills this high.

If the hospital has any decency, they won't bill the family. After all, they never wanted all of this in the first place.

How could they bill the family if they took their rights away. That just doesn't seem legal to me.

I agree with you both, Yuban and Moonriser, but I'd bet anything that they WILL bill them and expect to be paid. It will probably take a lawsuit to make that go away. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I would hope they will not be billed. Being the Tarrant County public hospital, many, if not most, of their bills go unpaid I'd venture to say. Time will tell with this case. I believe he is a firefighter and certainly doesn't have the means to pay huge bills. In my opinion, even his insurance company should NOT be liable for these bill(s).

I couldn't agree more Burnsite. We can only hope that this is an isolated incident, and that if it arises in the future that a legal and moral precedent has been set.

early on in this ordeal, there was mention in an associated press piece, that the family would be responsible for her hospital bills but i haven't seen any mention of it as of late.

What difference does it make if they had health insurance or not? I'm sure they did, but that doesn't mean the family or their insurance company should be responsible for those hospital bills.

So tragic for the family in so many ways. I hope they find support in their friends and family to help them deal with this in the years to come.
