ANOTHER SCAM by text message"-Apple ID at RISK"

This is the scam and as some reported the url isn't even APPLE and the number is not an Apple no.

So delete and block as junk!

"We have noticed that your Apple id was recently used at "APPLE STORE" for $143.95, paid by Apple Pay Pre Authorization. Also some suspicious sign in request and apple pay activation request detected. That looks like suspicious to us. In order to maintain the security and privacy of your account we have placed those request on hold. If NOT you? Please Call +1 850-85*-**** to talk to an Apple Representative. Failing may lead to auto debit and charge will not be reversed. Call +1 850-85*-**** immediately to cancel this charge.

I just got this today by text and if you look this up you will see many asking is it a scam and receiving the exact same message with the exact same amount charged in CA.

Gosh I hate this and people who do it! Get a job and not this kind! awful people out there!

Haven't received this one, yet. We probably will get it eventually since we are Apple customers and users.

My family members and I recently got a text from our local DMV saying we had outstanding tickets to pay. We knew that one was fake right away. Others aren't so obvious.

Tons of scams out there. Can't trust a lot of texts, emails, phone calls, or letters delivered to your home. Some are really good dupes making it difficult to determine what's real and what isn't.

You can safely hover or click on phone numbers and email addresses in the title to see the origin of the sender. You can tell it's not from the company they're pretending to be if the info is some random person's name, has odd symbols, or you notice misspellings. All are red flags for a scam.

You can also call the company with a number you know is correct and ask them if they sent the text or email or letter. Only once in the last several years did I get confirmation that the letter sent to me was real and sent from the company.

Never assume anything is legit. Sad state of affairs, but better safe than sorry.

I use a Mac, but have an Android phone. I would just ignore it though since I don't have Apple Pay. I used to get E-mails about my Apple ID which suggested I had lost my Cloud priveliges, Big woop, I don't use the Cloud specifically because I don't want my data held hostage for payment at some point and I don't trust it not to get hacked.

I got a very odd text the other day about AfterPay which I have never used. It said Afterpay - notifications and verification codes. Your code is ######. Msg freq varies. Text STOP to end. Call 1-855-289-6014 for help. Std. rates may apply. @afterpay(.)com # ######.

I received it at 2:54 am. I am never up and on my computer at that time, even if I can't sleep.

On my iPad last week I received a message ( can't remember it exactly now ) that there were 5 viruses detected on my iPad. Then a scary McAfee message that filled the screen and basically was forcing a subscription that would protect my device for a year for a fee.

Couldn't get rid of it until I turned my device totally off...talk about aggressive marketing !!! Now I would never even consider antivirus software by McAfee.

IPads and iPhones do not need antivirus software.

That was not MacAfee. What you saw was a malicious pop-up, a scam, trying to get you to click on it. There was a website that you visited that wasn't secure and allowed it through their security to your browser. Don't click on it if you ever see something similar again.

I'm sure most people are but some that pop up out of the blue and are scary the initial reaction might be yikes! And then you look closely and investigate without clicking or replying to anything.

And some people are not aware of every scam so I always appreciate knowing about them even though I might know not to reply, some might not. Reminders always help, I think.

This way we'll get the word out and help others beat those scammers in their own awful game.

I have been getting a message several times a day on my PC that my Cloud storage will be deleted ------IF----I don't update all my info/payment---it's a scam--my Icloud is just fine. Dirtbags!!!!!

I’ve been getting those for awhile. I go in my account & it’s fine. So many scams. I’ve also received the toll scam. I never go on a toll road so that’s a no brainer. 😅
