Yes, growing up there was a woman who was like a grandmother to us in our neighborhood. She would do that and some of the older women always had hankys tucked in their bra. Funny cuz they all wore aprons everyday with pockets. LOL.

I am not a grandmother but have done both, tissue and cash in my bra. In the summer they get sweaty!

My mother referred to her bra as her First National Bank. No idea who she was copying. By the time I was aware of the world outside home, both grandmothers and my paternal grandfather had died.

@Bonkers1 No but my Grandma kept her purse in the dryer.

Her washer & dryer were in the kitchen & they parked & came in the back door which came into the kitchen.

The washer & dryer sat right there & she kept her purse in the dryer.

In case anyone broke into the house she said no one would look there!

Maybe same thing with money between b@@bs.

She was also well-endowed, so there were times when she became a spectacle at the check-out stand...

Back in the mid '80's my grandmother told me she kept her monthly oil & gas royalty checks in the freezer until she could get to the bank. Her reasoning was a burglar breaking in. She did this up until she passed in 2011.

My Gram called this her pin money. It was an emergency stash of sorts.

She said to take pin money with me when going on a date. That way if he got fresh with you, you could catch a cab home safely. 😉

That sweaty cash is disgusting and unhealthy for the cashier. I know because I used to be a cashier.

My husband's grandmother did indeed keep her money in a coin purse that was pinned securely in her apron pocket.

My grandmother kept her secret money stash in a baby sock pinned to her bra. She had money in her wallet to pay for store purchases, but her secret money was given to her grandchildren for treats, special needs and occasions. The day she fell and broke her hip, she gave the baby sock to my mother in the ER; it contained about $500.

My grandmother was almost flat chested, so no. My mother as well. Neither one of them had any extra money to carry. Flat chested and flat broke.

I never knew my grandmothers, both deceased when I was a baby. But my Mother always had a stash she kept under the edge of the rug in the dining room. She'd pull a twenty from under there quick as a flash.

This is still a normal & common thing among AA females & not just w/grandmothers either. The only difference is that coins are kept inside the pocketbook & bills are folded & placed inside the bra cup.

I will gladly accept sweaty bills from a bra than bills from a stripper's crotch g string.
