CAN WE TALK?

Does anyone else find it uncanny that some of the skincare lines who profess top rated products have had work done on their faces? Dr. Denese, Adrianne (HSN) and Dimitri (HSN). Most recently it looks like Dimitri added more eye work to his collection?

I certaily do, and he looks plastic,tons of work done.

I do. I think that sunscreen is the best skin care. What I really notice is this. I have bought and used many skincare products from QVC, HSN. I bought into the hype that the hosts and vendors dished out. Now I notice that those same hosts, skin does not look that great.

The moral of my story, is that skin care is not magic. If we are lucky enough, we will age and show the signs of aging. That is how our bodies are made. I will be 67 this month and there is a freedom to that. My eyelids have fallen despite the fact that I always used eye cream. Now I skip that step, it did not good. Eyelids fall because of the muscles underneath LOL.

I now just do the basics, I use Beekman skin care now. Gentle cleansing, bloom cream and that fermented milk serum. I use sunscreen always. My skin looks good for my age, but I know I will never look young again. I wear it proudly. As a RN, I see many people suffer and as of today, I am not 1 of them. That is something to be grateful for.

Good skincare helps, but it can't do what plastic surgery can. Personally, I don't like the pulled tight skin look on anyone, but I'm seeing that more and more. I don't think that looks realistic or necessarily younger. I think good genes and sunscreen probably help more than anything. JMO

in answer to the OP: I think it's disingenuous for ppl with tons of plastic surgery/other procedures to promote a skin care line. They are banking on potential customers belief that they can achieve this look, using only the products being sold.

Like you said, @conlt, the aging process goes on regardless. Nothing can stop it. I too found no benefits in using eye creme. In my forties when I still looked fairly young I thought it was working, but my eyes hadn't begun to sag and wrinkle. I believed that I was preventing all that- in my 70s it's obvious that aging happened despite all the cremes and potions. Also like you, I simplified my total routine A daily gentle exfoliating pad, microfiber cloth and micellar water to remove makeup/cleanse, vit c serum and a moisturizer (gold bond pure moisture)

Even with plastic surgery, of any sort, you still need to take care of your skin. This can be done with sunscreen as well as beauty products. So, in this day and age where even 20 year olds do botox, I do not find it uncanny. It is far more common these days than you can imagine. Everyone needs to care for their skin at any age, in addition to any other procedures that have been done.

Skin care and plastic surgery do different things.

Skin care is very important after plastic surgery.

I don't purchase a product expecting to look like the person selling it.

Dimitri getting plastic surgery or not has nothing to do with how I will respond to his products

Very nice post, @conlt . Yes, there are worse things in life than wrinkles. Hopefully, we all do the best we can.

As far as the skin care vendors, most of them don't deny having procedures done. Yes, some do, and I am not sure I believe them.

There was a young gal on the other night with Shawn selling a lip product. She had large lips and said she had never had a procedure done. It was a result of her lip product. While this may be true, she has most likely always had full lips. They did a close up of her face and she had deep forehead lines and crowsfeet at her eyes. She proudly proclaimed to be 47 lol. I am 71 and her forehead lines and crowsfeet are deeper than mine. BUT her lips are larger than mine have ever been in my entire life. It didn't entice me to buy.

I see no reason why people who understand the science of skin would not do surgery for the problems nothing topical can fix,

We consumers pf slkincare products need t0 pay very careful attention to the verbiage. Over and over what I hear is how the products will DIMINISH THE APPEARANCE OF FINE LINES AND WRINKLES. I can actually see that with the products I use. I do not ever expect my skin care to accomplish what surgery does.

Some people try to hide their age with hair color, many use myriad kinds of color cosmetics to alter their appearance, and I see absolutely no reason why anyone who appears in front of the camera shouldn't use surgery if that's what works for them.

People who have plastic surgery on their face still need to do skin care. I don't see anything wrong with Dimitri and Dr. Denese selling skin care products when they've both had work done.

Skin care and plastic surgery are not related.

You can use great skin care to avoid acne, black heads, protections from the sun to help avoid wrinkles etc. but there is no skin care that will help with sagging skin, drooping eyelids and double chins.

Even though many skin care lines will tell you that their products will tighten the skin, they do not.

If you want to remove years from your face, you need to use great skin care and also plastic surgery. In combination they work wonders.

Many people cannot afford plastic surgery, but they can still take care of their skin.

I don't find it misleading for a spokesperson for a skin care line to also use plastic surgery to achieve good results.

NO I don't find it uncanny at all! Good skin care is just that: taking care of your skin. There are some things you can do that help with turgor by temporarily plumping the skin, etc. But Skin care doesn't prevent sagging and a lot of other aging issues from occurring. In office lasers and other modalities along with surgery gives correction results and that's what you have to be able to afford. That Dr. Denese and others have cosmetic surgery is common for those with financial means to invest in it.

Surgery can give results that are dramatic and longer lasting but even that needs tweaking. Having in office laser treatments and some other modalities like microneedling can provide additional results beyond what skin care gives you.

It doesn't bother me that Dr. Denese and Dimitri and others have cosmetic surgery. It's a choice and in keeping with their own wishes and their social group expectations. They are "salesmen" and are selling a product. I believe good skin care gives some results but not miracles.

I had multiple plastic surgeries after weight loss. My plastic surgeon stressed the importance of good skin care after my procedures. Good skin care does not prevent aging & sagging but it may hydrate the skin & give it a vibrant appearance. I don’t think any vendor is stating that a product can achieve the same results as surgery & if they’ve had work done, it’s their business. We can make our own personal judgements about plastic surgery on presenters but we should focus on the condition of their skin not physical features or if they’ve had surgery or not.

Has anyone seen Kris Jenner's new look? She looks totally

different and her face is much thinnner, looking more like her daughters. I'm too chicken to do anything like that.

I have always taken care of my skin and have used moisturizers since I was twelve. I did other things, not knowing that they would be beneficial to my skin.

I have worn sunglasses since I was twelve, because they were fashionable. I didn't realize that sunglasses, keeping you from squinting , helps to prevent crowsfeet. At 78 I don't have forehead wrinkles either.

Also, having five babies kept me inside and out of the sun much of the time. At both of my houses, I had shady yards with a lot of trees. When in the sun, I mostly wore and still wear a straw hat to protect from the sun.

Eating healthy protein,fruits and vegetables, drinking plenty of water to hydrate your skin , avoiding too much sugar, alcohol and smoking are factors too. Getting adequate sleep is important too.

Having good genes helps. All the women in my mother's family, looked younger than their years.

My face and jawline are not as tight as when I was young, but I

won't have surgery, I'm too sensitive and have bad reactions to

anesthesia and medications.

I've accepting getting older, but I'll still take care of my skin.
