Elvis - although I wasn't quite as crazed as a high school friend who stood up in the local movie theater and shouted to him on the screen! To this day, I cringe when I remember that, yet I know I needn't have felt embarrassed.

ELVIS!!! Although my boyfriend had his own band, and he sounded EXACTLY like Rick Nelson...

The boyfriend did have mostly "concert" dates...and I went all over the place with the band. Mama didn't care...(????)

as a preteen Bobby Vinton , then older the Beatles , Janis Joplin. Then in my late teens country had a surge. I was a fan of folk when it was popular--Peter/Paul & Mary.

Neil Diamond....was obsessed.

Still think he's one of our more prolific writers, who often, except for his "cult following" which was large and loyal, especially for his live shows...didn't always get mainstream credit. Was often teased for being kind of "uncool" back in the 70's-80's...and some songs "So good, so good, so good" (at the Red Sox games, "Sweet Caroline") got "popular" that way, fun, catchy pop tunes, but he has such other "not as 'poppy' songs/albums that are great.

Anyhoo....quite the catalog of music, and a legendary career. Always seemed like a cool, laid back, down to earth guy, when interviewed.

Saw him many, many times, live, throughout his several decades of performing....was fantastic.

@threecees Loved me some Rick Springfield in the 80's also. And REO Speedwagon was my favorite band then.

@Janey2 My girlfriends and I went through a Paul Anka phase in the late 70's, when he was making somewhat of a comeback "You're Having My Baby" era. I worked at a live local theater then, and met him several times, (they had a reception line each night...the shows were weekly.) I have so many pics with him.

oh...ps & btw...met Neil too...in my 20's, and have a pic with him...and he was laid back and sweet that day.

Elvis. Then I moved on to Johnny Mathis. He is #1. No one sings ballads like him. Then Bobby Vinton and Linda Ronstadt. We had the best music.
