From the pics it was a hatchet and the amount of whacks were not 40 and 41. They were approximately 18 for the stepmother and around 12 for Dad.

Loves...kinda the same difference. BTW, that song wasn't correct. No 40 whacks for the stepmom or 41 for the dad. It was more like, 19 and 10-11, respectively.

They greeted her as "Mrs. Borden" and worried that Abby Borden's family sought to gain access to their father's money. Emma was protective of her younger sister and, together, the two sisters helped to manage the rental properties owned by Andrew Borden. The family attended the Congregationalist Church, an institution in which Lizzie was particularly involved.

From what I have been able to read there are no pics of Lizzie's sister Emma...only one sketch. Emma is described as thin and long faced and quite thin.
