Ladies...just heard interview re Talc in products which can cause cancer. All of Laura

Gellers products contain Talc ... or at least most of them ...interesting new book spelling

all this out.. I have tossed all Talc containing Laura products OUT...

This has been know for more than 20 years, usually has to do with using it in the private areas can cause cancer of the female organs.

Can cause ovarian cancer. When I think how we used to dust the babies with this stuff, scary.

Talc that was causing problems contained asbestos. The asbestos caused lung cancer and cancer in females who used it in the genital area.

Now, talc must be tested to be asbestos free to be used in hygentic items and cosmetics.

@shoekitty I use to be a runner, without too much TMI I used baby powder to absorb sweat. I had a friend get ovarian cancer, while googling the disease I read that what I was doing could cause cancer, I feel like she saved my life, this was 20 plus years ago.

I certainly do not want to breath it or use it on my face or body in any form. I avoid cosmetics that contain it.

@spumoni99 Good call! I know it doesn't happen to everyone, but I am older and know 2 women who got ovarian cancer from talc, they were almost posative. I think there is some kind of testing on tissue removed during surgery. But to be sure, when caught early it is usually curable which was the case of my friends. Surgery,+chemo

All the body powders I see on the shelves nowadays claim to be talc free. I'm guessing cosmetic powders contain minute amounts, if any. It's the least of my worries.

So what are they making dusting and baby powders with? Talc?

I know there's also cornstarch baby powder, but it says so on the package.

So, how do you find out for sure that the powders - specifically - face powers - that you are using -- are safe - even if they contain talc?

I do use LC powders and I never worried about it being unsafe. I didn't think that her company would put anything unsafe in her products..

I also use Cover Girl face powders and some other drug store ones.

I don't use any powders on my body and haven't for years once I heard that talc was not really good to use on the body.

Anyone????

I can't imagine the small amount being used in a cosmetic product would be deadly. I am also not concerned.

@San Antonio Gal I agree. I've been using it for about six months now. I'm not going to worry about it.

If you used a diaphragm for birth control back in the day, the instructions said to dust it with talcom powder after washing and drying it. Of course the next time you used it you were basically inserting talcom powder residue into your body. 😮 I suspect that's where many the ovarian cancer cases came from. And yes, I used a diaphragm.🫤

My best friends in the world when I was growing up were my mom and my cousin. Twenty years ago both of them ended up with uterine cancer, my mom survied it but my cousin did not. All my baby powder immediately went in the garbage. I keep a very small container of baby powder in my kitchen to aid my putting on disposable gloves for cooking.

This news came out over 25 years ago, but it pertained to talc use in the panties and female genitals, not to makup. but I have stopped using talc in makeup since it can be very drying to the skin and look cakey. Stick to cornstarch in the fem area. No Geller for me except lippies

@San Antonio Gal. Never heard of "death by face powder". I'm not even slightly concerned.
