Beware QVC Return Label

I needed to return a QVC purchase. The return label was confusing. The top portion said: USPS (US Postal Service), the bottom portion said: UPS (United Parcel Service).

I was confused as to which service to use. The Customer Service rep said : EITHER.

So I cut off the USPS part and took the package to UPS. Oh no, they said, this is only a post office label. I am disabled, walk with a walker, so any unnecessary errands are a problem, I walked 6 blocks to UPS, and 6 back. I was in a lot of pain and could not go home, repackage it, and walk to the post office. I was livid. So I called QVC and spoke to a supervisor. She said to leave the package with my mail carrier and they would scan the new part of the label. Obviously the CS person had no idea as to how to return and made up an answer. I hope this helps anyone who had the same question.

I've had absolutely no problem using the label just as it was and taking it to the post office . If in doubt, I would call the usps and ask my question before I walked 6 blocks or cut part of the label off.

QVC's labels can be confusing!

If you can go online on the Q, click on the item you want to return and follow their instructions, it will then show UPS or USPS for a return.
'I had one a couple weeks ago and when online it showed only a USPS as an option for a return.

Agree it is confusing. I once walked into a UPS store only to be told it was a USPS label. Now I use the online return procedure and get the QR code for UPS if that is an option.

@Jk9. lol, Have you tried to call a post office? Mine never answers the phone. It's impossible to have a question answered.

I must say, it would have never even occured to me to cut the shipping label. This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone doing this.

I feel badly for the OP having to walk so far. Everyone should know that if you're using the label, you can request postal pickup at your home or office. Go to the usps website and on the first page is the option for pick up. They'll email you a receipt.

Do you have to cut those dual labels?

Wouldn't the UPS just scan their bar code and the USPS would scan theirs?

@geezerette no you don't have to cut the label. In fact OP should not have cut the label, just used it as it was. I have used these types of labels many times. Each shipper knows what to scan. Ex: UPS knows what to scan if you use their service and USPS knows what to scan if you use their service.

@geezerette I have not ever cut mine and they can be confusing but what is interesting is that even though both might be listed on the label the USPS cannot take UPS but UPS can take them even if for the USPS. The only issue with that is if you want a receipt UPS cannot get generate a receipt with the USPS scanning code. Somehow all of my returns end up where they should and credit given. Sorry that the original poster ran into this. BUT also know that a lot of places today no longer have individual boxes in the front of their houses. We have a community type of cluster of boxes that you cannot have USPS pick up.

I take mine to a "pack & wrap" place. They use both UPS and USPS. I just hand them the package and let THEM decide how to ship!

I don't trust the regular post office any longer. A few years ago I sent a package to DS containing some of his Christmas gifts he couldn't fit in his backpack or luggage. I tracked it. It got there and sat at the post office. I called and they had no idea where it was. I had insured it for the amount of the gifts inside. The post office wanted a detailed list and proof of purchase. I had everything except one proof of purchase. I filled out the form and sent everything. They denied everything because they said they couldn't prove it wasn't delivered! Really?

The following year it took over a month to get it to him. I was on the phone a lot!

This past Christmas I took it to the "package" place. Once again it seemed to stall. DD happened to mention it to the young guys who work there when she was mailing a package. That night I got a copy of an email they sent the post office. The next day I saw the package was out for delivery! So I gave DS a "heads up," and he got it!

I definitely cut mine. The ones with double labels are usually from HSN and not QVC. If I'm using UPS, I choose that one. If I'm going to a post office, I use the one that says USPS.

wouldn't it be nice if QVC did a video of how to return a pkg and which label to use. It might seem like a simple thing but it's not when it's this confusing. They could help a lot of customers, if they did this.

I have never heard of these complications!

The invoice is usually in two parts....one for the return item with order number and the second part is the return label.

I just peel the return label from the backing (I don't cut anything on it) and stick it to the package. I always stick it over the original label so there is no extra confusion.

I place the invoice with the return information inside the package. I drop it off at my local Parcel Place that takes USPS, UPS, etc.

I am aware that I can also just go over to USPS dot com and schedule a next day pick up by my front door....I have done that many times when I had my Etsy shop.

I try to do whatever will make my life easier.

@Barkanyc I am so sorry you had to go through this. I have been confused by these labels too, and took a return package to UPS.

UPS told me they DO NOT accept these labels. It was an aggravating extra trip for me, but at least I had the label intact.

The USPS, to date, has always taken the qvc labels. I have some returns coming up, so I appreciate if anyone has different information.

In my experience, qvc's customer reps do not give good information. Communicating with them can be challenging because of their lack of information, but at least most recently, they have been kind and polite.

@Jk9 The label had a UPS section. I have had this confusion myself.

QVC labels go to USPS if one sees that word anywhere. UPS won't take the return even if the label says UPS and has a UPS tracking number. Just confusing to customers.

My Postal Office NEVER picks up the phone, and their customer service is generally terrible. Some postal workers are nice.

UPS won't take the package with a QVC label from customers. Leave label as is and use USPS.

@DJs mom I agree with you on not cutting the label, but UPS won't take QVC pre-paid return labels.
