Your grocery bill goes up, so do the dairy cow's grocery bills. Insurance goes up? Costs more to insure that tractor. Your grocery bill goes up, so does the dairy farmer's only a zillion times more for all those hungry cattle.

Sometimes we forget that when prices go up, they go up for everyone, including the businesses that make, manufacture, ship, and sell products and services to us. Lots of costs in running a business and those are passed on to consumers. Not saying I love it, but that's the reality.

I do take issue with companies that raise prices excessively to increase their own wealth instead of paying their workers a living wage.

Actually, yes, bird flu has been detected in dairy cattle. However so far just a few cases.

As of March 19, 2025, the USDA reported that 989 dairy herds in 17 US states have confirmed cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus infections in dairy cows. The affected states include California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Texas, Iowa, Utah, Nevada, Minnesota, New Mexico, South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wyoming.

A second type of bird flu has been found in dairy cows for the first time, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Feb 4. Until recently, all dairy herd detections in the U.S. had involved a form of bird flu, or avian influenza, known as B3. 13. This strain of bird flu, known as D1. Feb 10, 2025

Our butter has been very high for about 2 years. It recently went down along with the price of eggs.

You are lucky! We are still waiting! NO reduction on eggs or butter in Western New York at my stores.

Friends in other parts of NY and in IL have seen $1 or more reduction on eggs. We chatter about it all the time, ha ha.

Good thing I don't need any.

It's about 4.99@ -5.99@ for organic butter at traders. It's always that much ! And more, depending. Strauss organic is always a tad more. I am in California. Isn't it true some of the dairy states like Wisconsin, MN and such always have lower dairy prices.. I can't remember buying real butter for 3.99lb

It was in the news a day or two ago that Oklahoma grocery prices are some of the highest in the country. No surprise to me.

The price of groceries is SHOCKING in Arizona. EVERYTHING sold here comes via the Interstate from California, and the shipping cost is tacked onto the merchandise prices.

Yes, prices have been increasing for several years.

I stock up on items when there is a sale.

Four Sticks (1 lb) of Butter - usually

on sale 2 for $7 in my area.
