Ancestry

As we now study our ancestry (remember Roots?) I remember a teacher my younger son had in third grade. She told him she was more American than he. I had a quiet talk w/the school principal.

I took a course in "Finding your Roots" and really enjoyed it.

My relatives all claim to have "royal" or "noble" ancestors.

Well, I gotta tell ya....they didn't jump on the boat for America because they were RICH...

I did the DNA test because I was interested. Found out my sister is really my sister. That was a disappointment.

My brother did one. Found out either our great grandfather on my mother's side had an illegitimate daughter. Her son contacted our family and met many relatives when he made a trip to my hometown.

Omg... we found out some pretty shocking stuff! Some of my siblings don't even want to talk about it. I think it's great, personally. So yes, I believe it does matter. 🤗

I did Ancestry and my brother 23 and me we found out some interesting about my Dads family and even met a few of them in late 2019. My fathers grandfather had siblings that left Europe and were sent to the death camps. Found out his great grandfather was a Rabbi

The DNA tests have fascinating results at times.

So much of my family was born, lived and died in Ireland so, of course, you go on the premise you are Irish.

Through the years, many Scottish people came to Ireland. I was shocked at the percentage of Scottish noted on my test. In studying my ancestors, none were listed as being born in Scotland.

This also happened with Scandinavian people entering Scotland and then Ireland. I had a substantial amount of that also.

Even though you think you know exactly what nationality you are, there may be some surprises.

@I am still oxox Wow, those are some findings. I am a follower of WWII and what those camps were like. I think I have watched almost every movie and listened to so many of the true stories online...shocking and sad to say the least.

Some of the things I've seen lead me to believe it could happen again. I honestly think it is.
